General Car Conversation 2024 - part 1

The Mercedes has stalled twice in traffic idling, but starts right back up. CEL light came on just a while ago.
It was just at the dealer yesterday for service. I read the code it's an evap leak, but I didn't clear it since dealer is taking it back tomorrow.
Dealer did something while servicing it, this exact same thing happened on my LS430. Evap hose loose.
The car has not hiccuped once, nothing, zip... then it stalls and throws a code after a dealer visit?

I did wonder if it possibly could be sub-par fuel that caused the stall and CEL before I got the code read, but she rips better than ever when driven and gunned.
The way I see it a minor evap leak is a lot less bad than other things that could set that CE light off lol.
Ahhh in other news, I finally got to rip the car through the first 3 gears. I have not had a chance to do that safely since I bought the car. I'd always have to let off before 2nd gear really starting ripping. Today I was up to 100 in no time.

from my limited knowledge as an amateur tinkerer and DIY oil changer, i think he's basically saying the car is running too lean (not enough fuel in the cylinders) or too rich (too much fuel in the cylinders)
the fuel trim is a sensor that monitors air/fuel ratio

Yes sorry, my bad I forgot to parse the info lol!
You may be having air pulled though the tank EVAP system from a defective flow control valve etc that is disturbing idle. That happens because the car wants to account for every gram of air and if you introduce extra via any point that isn't the MAF sensor it will become angry. You can probably rule it out by disconnecting the MAF and forcing a default run map....or use a scanner to see if the car is correcting short term fueling rich or lean. If it's adding fuel you have a leak somewhere and it will eventually throw a lean code assuming the O2s are working properly.

We'll see what the dealer says.

Okay..........
WTFFFFFFF are the odds of this????!??
Mercedes needs a crankshaft sensor and there's a small evap leak a gas cap that should fix it according to them to fix the CEL. It stranded my spouse last night but I got it started. Pretty sure I updated my thread.
Here's where the odd thing comes in.
TODAY the 2022 Yukon started going haywire as I was on the interstate, then stranded me. Nothing dangerous, it just started slowing down, easy to pull over at least.
TWO DAYS in a row I've been stranded. The battery was bad in the Yukon, these damn complicated cars, and it made everything go haywire. Running boards stopped working and everything. I realllllllly missed my key and column shifter you just feel helpless with nothing analog to use to help/diagnose/fix. They couldn't get it into neutral so they had to drag it up onto the flatbed. So it's good it was just a crappy battery but today has been interesting let's just say!

Of the cars I've personally owned in my life, the one Toyota product had to be towed from the side of the road twice, which is the same as the combined total of one Chrysler (1), one Dodge (0), one Ford (0), one Nissan (0), 3 BMWs (1) and an Audi (0).

I too have had multiple Toyota/Lexus products towed at the roadside lol
When it comes to a vehicle that old, something like that can leave you stranded at any time.
