What else is an Accord known for besides practicality, room, etc. What else besides that?
Chassis excellence in engineering, design, and real world performance.
Go back as far as you possibly can and you'll find nothing but praise for the frisky chassis, as if it's engineered for the enthusiast. Read every C&D 10 Best list it's been on for however many years. Honda kills it with the chassis engineering and makes it fun to drive. Honda is good with that. It had the engine to go along with the goods...until now.
Neutering the powertrain to a hybrid (lots of people don't want to drive a hybrid) was just pitiful. I really think something spicier will be back.

Have you read any reviews of the new Accord? They still praise the chassis lol. Having the engine doesn’t mean anything if enough people don’t buy it to make it make sense for them to keep offering it.
I think you will find very few mainstream buyers who “won’t drive a hybrid”. Remember in every survey I have seen asking buyers what is most important to them, #1 is fuel economy. Performance isn’t even in the top 10
Times are different than they were 20-30 years ago. Honda has the larger Civic that they do have sportier versions of for that consumer today. The Accord is left for the pedestrian sedan buyer who isn’t looking for that sort of thing.
Do you still think there won't be new 5.3L V8 Chevy trucks in 2030 since we brought up wagers? It's been a year or two since we've mentioned it. That's only 6 years away now.
Here is one such survey, where is performance and 0-60 time? Not on there.

It is truly shocking to see how low down on the list driving comfort is!

Maybach can be had in a V12…better than a W12 IMO

I’m really not going to miss that W12 much. I’ve driven several Bentleys with that motor and, while interesting, it doesn’t sound as good as a traditional V12. It’s a novelty item and the V8 character fits the sporting image of Bentley just fine imo.

But what would it hurt to bring back a little speed to the Accord? It wouldn't make the sales worse. I bet that guy in the Accord that got dusted by a huge 10 year old SUV wishes they didn't drop the 2.0t.

We'll see on that one too. That's less than 6 years away, and GM is coming out with a new small block.

more irony
also another V6 with turbo. All new in 2023
GM has a new V8. Naturally aspirated
I'm not refusing to accept anything, lol. I didn't deny that!
I don’t think this will apply to all demographics

9.9/10 people would never race anything in an Accord lol
We'll just see. I would not be surprised if they bring back something way better engine-wise. Things like this have happened before in the car world, it ain't unheard of.
The bet was more specific, IIRC you said they would all be EV. Not splitting hairs, and in any case it's all on here in the threads but I don't care to find it. The bet is will GM still offer V8 trucks in 2030.

We are not all mindless vessels that just buy whatever is thrown at us.
About our bet I’m gonna dig at some point but I don’t really care, we know what it is clearly now. V8 or not from GM in 2030.

BTW I do silly little bets like this with friends in real life CONSTANTLY, albeit not about cars much.
This isn’t a bytchy huge bet, just a friendly stupid wager.

I find these “race” stories questionable. Somehow in my 25 years of driving I’ve never been in a street race, and nobody has ever tried to get me to race them to my knowledge.
Again look at the sales figures and look at the surveys of what buyers want. That explains all of the product decisions carmakers make. Nobody is saying buyers are mindless vessels, they buy what they want and what they want is fuel economy over performance in a mainstream vehicle. What the majority of buyers want and what you want is just not the same.
