I was going 7 under when ******** made his move that nearly caused a collision. It did not affect me even though he cut me off and went into the next lane, then across the exit ramp over the painted lines that say you are not supposed to drive here. I saw the aggressive acceleration from two lanes to my left and knew this malaka was going to cut me off, so I lifted and let him do it, By the time he went to the lane to my right and almost caused the three car, I was clear of it. It was an SUV, but I have learned to expect such driving from SUVers. All good.

If he was going 7 over the whole time he never would have been in that situation in the first place.
You also drive a car that's inherently more dangerous since its unable to react as quickly to changing situations and crashes poorly vs modern cars.....the 4 runner has always been that way.

For me, driving is looking way down the road, looking back to immediate cars around, and then looking in the mid range. Looking further ahead is good. Planning ahead is important and most drivers either don’t do that or are just *** holes who need to be first. Whatever. If you read the traffic by looking ahead, you can see how traffic will be affected. Speed is far less relevant than awareness of surroundings, planning ahead, and reading other drivers.

I also think we, at least I, take the roads we know so well for granted.
I could drive the side streets to my parents' house with my eyes closed, I did it once when we were stupid kids. There was a backup watching the wheel.
I was 16, so please don't lecture me lol.

Totally agree. The only time I enjoy driving now is very early Saturday and Sunday mornings.
I leave for work very early in the am. My drive into to work can actually be quite relaxing.
There's always been bad drivers but it's been compounded so badly these days by phones.

Rural drivers are better because there aren’t as many of them. I didn’t intend to derail the thread.
I bought my Civic as a stop gap when I had to return my IS350 and I had a short commute. It is a step down, but from the IS, which is entry luxury, so it’s not like going from an LS or an S class to a nice econobox. I had a 14 mile round trip commute when I got the car. Three months after I got it, Covid Madness hit and I have been working from home as a contractor and permanent employee for four years. I don’t drive it much as a result.
Honda has left owners in the lurch with **** poor handling of a/c system failures. This is a boot around car that is destined to have an a/c evaporator failure at the cost of $2100. It was my first Honda and will be my last.
