General Car Conversation 2024 - part 1

Yeah, I was able to get one from Toyota. With the camera, BSM, “Highlander” text puddle light, heated, etc. it wasn’t cheap but we can drive it again, so the door is next. The paint is cracked so unfortunately it needs a repaint and not PDR. Appreciate the offer though.

Actually, that can be a good way TO get one's car scratched.. Some jerks will do it to you deliberately if they think you are making a big show of yourself parking that way....or if they think you are unnecessarily taking up two spaces.

I have changed my parking strategy. I used to park a bit away from the crowd when I had my previous Lexus cars and that was especially true after I had my GS300 painted. There was often a beater parked right next to me. One of them gave me a door ding. They probably didn’t use their passenger side mirror anyway and probably didn’t miss it. I don’t know how it got broken. Probably a coincidence.
Now, I look for spots next to nicer cars which is not hard to do if you have a Civic. My car is clean and not clapped out, so hopefully the owner of the S Class or 7 series knows I am careful and did not open my door and hit their car.
A friend of mine from the German club told me my car is a cop magnet. It isn’t. It’s got front and rear plates installed where they are supposed to be. It does not have modified exhaust. Every panel is straight. The tags are current. I tend to drive about 73 mph on the freeway. The tags are current. It’s lowered on RSR down springs and the red wheels do pop but there’s no law against that and law enforcement knows that. I got a thumbs up from a motor officer a while back.

I have a temporary handicapped placard because I'm still going through back surgeries... it never ends, this will be #4.
I love being able to park the Mercedes out front top down where there is virtually no way anyone could door ding it. And where there's surveillance, etc. Nobody will mess with it. If they do, the alarm is seriously loud... a siren, not horn honking.

As far as parking near nice cars just don't, the only thing I was next to my cars are cars driven by people I directly know or something as expensive....maybe on that second one. I really don't want anyone near my cars
