So I got the S560 back from the 50K service and spark plugs. Such a savings at the independent, total for the A Service, oil change and inspections and all, engine air filters and replacement of the spark plugs was $884. Dealer quoted $565 for the A Service and $1,450 for the spark plug replacement, so less than half the cost...

It does have a leaking valve cover, he noted it and documented it so I could take it to the dealer next week and have them handle that under warranty.

huge difference. I just had a leaking steering hose on my 4Runner. My independent fixed it for $300 and then did an oil change all in for $430. Also looked at my brakes for no change and said they are ok

Default Wheels and tires

Hey I have a question some might consider stupid but I’m new to this and didn’t know how much actually went into selecting wheels and tires.
I have a 2016 is300 AWD and my dad said I could have a set of rims he has in the garage and my question is if they would fit. All I know is they’re OZ wheels he said the front is 19x9.5 and the rear is 19x11.5, those sound like they might be a little too large to fit the car properly and I also don’t want to screw up with the AWD. I think he was running something like 295 or 305/20 for the rear which is egregious for my stock car. I’m planning on doing the suspension too to lower the car maybe 1.5-2 inches which gives me some play but I have no idea what I have to run to fit this. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Welcome to ClubLexus @Boutros .

You'll want to post that question as a thread over in the 3rd gen IS subforum: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...4-present-249/

There should be plenty of IS owners who can answer that.

That is the epitome of cachet, the LC500.
i know it's special and very unique, that's why i bought it. whether it has 'cachet' or not to others, couldn't care less. if it helps resale though, great.

maybe you're referring to that s-class's ones, not 21's in general. on my lc500 the sidewall is quite reasonable.

sorry it didn't work out... weren't you working with a broker this time?

It does. These LC convertibles are holding values like crazy. The coupes are coming down steadily, though. But still crazy retained value, bc it's a Lexus.

Just to be clear, I don’t care what other people think, it’s what it means to me. I appreciate the design and heritage that goes into a luxury vehicle, I like the styling and the look and feel of the brand etc. Has nothing to do with what other people think.

Broker was BMW, this is on my own.

It may still work out, we’ll see.

Looking at Toyota Japan’s website. Toyota still has the 2TR-FE in production for use in the new 250 Land Cruiser. Iron block. Circa 2003

Does any other manufacturer have a larger I4?

I don't know of any larger, but I do know of a widely-used one that's the same size. The L3B "TurboMax" engine in the Silverado/Sierra and Colorado/Canyon is a 2.7L turbo I4. Until I just looked now, I didn't know it was also used in the Cadillac CT4 as well as the Traverse/Acadia twins.

Thanks. Have to give GM credit for having what appears to be truck and SUV exclusive engines. Just reading up on the engine now. Electric waste gate and electric water pump

Sales manager from the dealer with the burgundy car called me, that may not be dead yet. He's going to try and get confirmation that the rebates can be stacked (they can) and they are willing to take $7,500 off of the car in addition to the rebates, which is not great...local dealer offered me that off of a 24, but the rebates are $10k more on the 23, the 23 is $5k less MSRP, and the lease rates are the same so the 23 makes more sense. But, if they can do that and trade me out of my car clean (that may be the leverage) the numbers still work getting me the same payment I am paying now. We will see.

There's another blue car in TX I may take a run at, waiting to see if my local dealer would trade for this car, would be simpler than trying to do the deal in TX:

i don't love the 19s but I could live with them unlike the 21s...this car also is a better spec for me, has the exclusive nappa interor which gives you the full leather dash and doors and suede headliner, and the rear axle steering. The burgundy one has the 3D gauge cluster instead of the rear axle steering for the same MSRP and I'd rather have the rear axle steering.

I like the idea of electric water pumps if they put the dang thing in a relocated place that makes it serviceable without taking half the engine apart to get to it. Haha 🧐
