Of course it is lol. I have the keys to 3 V8 vehicles (all cars are V8s), soon to be a 4th when we get our LC500.

i think on average a V6 is the worst sounding of all engines... the honda J35 is my fav sounding mainstream V6, especially in VTEC at those upper rpms

the benefits of a V6 also vary great engine to engine, i'm most thinking of the 3MZ vs the 2GR since i have a bunch of experience with both... the benefit of the 3MZ is its silky torque curve, whereas the 2GR loves to rev and really pulls up top

That Honda engine absolutely screams, I had one of those too. Glorious engine. A V8 is better but STILL.

V6 isn't my favorite engine but there are lots of good ones out there, or there were.

The GM 3.6 is very good and hasn't given us a lick of trouble in 10 years. I look at it as a 21st Century 3800. It doesn't get my BP up lol but it does sound racy when you get on it and it's buttery smooth and has good torque.

I've only owned 2 V6's now that i think of it.

1989 Firebird with the 2.8 GM V6. Not great.

2012 Ford Fusion with the 3.0 Duratec. Decent engine.

I can proudly say that I have never owned a 4 cylinder.

That engine sucked, but at least it was in everything. It was reliable enough, but not fun to have to turn off the HVAC to pass someone.

The only V6s I have ever owned were:

1997 Ranger with the OHV 4.0L Fantastic engine. Not powerful by today's standards, but more than enough and dead reliable. Lacked the multiple brittle timing chains of the later SOHC version.

Audi CREC 3.0T Also great. Plenty powerful for the Q7, and aside from a taste for oil (which seems to be common) has been solid so far.

that 3.0 duratec is utter crap

i remember once at the toyota dealer someone traded in an AWD mercury milan with that engine, on paper i was very much ready to like that car as it ticked many boxes for a practical year round daily car... that engine was just SO unimpressive with basically no redeeming qualities that after that one 15 min drive i immediately wrote the car off

I'll just come out and say that I've owned several V6s but the 2GR-FKS in my current GS350 is my favorite. I had a version of the same engine in my 2020 Tacoma, but in the GS it's super refined and I like the sound of it. Much more so than the 2GR-FSE I previously had in my 2014 IS350 or 2015 GS350. Other V6s I've owned are the Chevy 4.3 and the Atkinson cycle versions of the 2GR (2016 Highlander had the 2GR-FXE and the current 2019 Highlander has the 2GR-FXS). I also owned one 2GR-FE and also liked that engine very much.

Nothing is particular really, pure impulse.....it's way too nice of a car for its job and I beat them down a lot since it was there for over a year.

Repair wise I'm actually shocked, ALL the airbags are individually replaceable not just the rear and the controller block is $45 as well. It's probably the cheapest and easiest air system I've ever seen/dealt with and all struts can be removed in about 2 hours total. These things have a really bad reputation but this one is lining up with the one I service in that it's really quite simple.....

The one I service is newer though and has the 4.6/7 TT engine and most of the things I've dealt with have been related to that.

Agreed, I’ve had two versions of the two 2GR engine in my 2007 RX 350 and my 2010 GS 350. Very refined nice sounding engines. Interestingly the engine sounded louder and sportier in the RX, whereas the “sportier” GS is whisper quiet. At higher speeds I can’t hear the engine over the tire noise unless I redline it. LOL Does have some idle vibration, but I don’t think it did that when it was new.

My first V8 was the LS430 coming from the Acura screamer.

It didn't take me long to realize the tiger under the hood. I was used to shifting at 4k to a car that shifts at 2k and still beat traffic lol.

Too bad the GS isn't being made anymore. I'll be in the market to bug new this year and I'm looking at the IS and ES. The GS would probably have been my top contender if they were still making them.

Aux battery for the GL450, I always replace in pairs with the main battery since the aux going bad does very strange stuff in a Mercedes. I also always change batteries on new cars so I know it won't screw me over unexpectedly lol!
