looking at it I almost think it was a barn find or something, the tires were really old and the mud looked like it had been there a long time. Really cool!

and glad yours is back and running well! yea a GLS/GLE can give the impression of having a "near S-class" level ride during casual use but the moment some actual serious driving is done it quickly becomes very clear that the depth of engineering isn't the same degree... i value high speed stability too much to ever think about replacing a sedan with an SUV, i could only supplement a sedan with an SUV lol
Yeah I was ready to have my car back…

Possibly the world's most expensive intake gasket set....$35 each

Factory sparks

Stupid expensive seals ready to go

104k miles worth of carbon, not enough to choke it out like lesser engines but you could feel it start before. Quite funny since it was still smoother than anything else I've ever been around/owned
Man that carbon buildup was really bad. I take it these are direct injected with no port injection?

Went out tonight now that its dark and empty and was able to get the engine all warmed up and did a couple full throttle pulls and the engine feels great...

I'm not sure but I might be missing a heat shield on the driver's side of the engine...it looks like there should be something there (there are mounting pins) but looking at pictures before the repair and of other engines I can't tell if there is anything there or not...

That GX looks great...I went and saw it at the dealer when I drove that LS500. What they had there didn't wow me, but it wasn't a luxury package like that one is...

Looks good though.

I somehow missed @Striker223 pics.
Yeah that carbon build up looks scary to me.

How is that engine breathing like that I don't know
However, I'm not an expert in that field but still looks bad to me.

I see a white GX550 driving around my hood. I absolutely love it.

Unless they paid a markup the GX550 Luxury Plus fully loaded is about $85k, so not quite $100k.

Yeah DI only, it's the only weak point on the engine but it's also not very affected by it. This level usually is enough to cause the 4 cyl and 6 cyl engines to not be able to idle or outright miss.

The V8s are mostly fine as are the V10s, the W12s seem to be able to go past 200k if needed/never cleaned with only a smoothness and power loss

The GX 550 is beautiful. I was considering getting one but the recent V35 engine issues scared me away.

Striker, that is a lot of carbon on the valves. Surprised it was running so smooth.

Steve, nice to hear you got your car back early and it's running great.

No damage to it from the tornado, I hope. I assume the garage protected it. Hope the house itself didn't have much damage.

I wouldn’t call it early, it was opposed to be done last Friday lol. But it’s back and all good it seems.

No damage at all, super lucky. We don’t even have a branch down. It must have lifted up over top of us

That's great to hear on both points, we had a situation like that a month back. Missed us but really messed up places just a mile north of us

We have an old joke in Florida

How do you know what car belongs to a General Contractor?

Look for the Cadillac with four balled tires!
