My Tundra weighs about 5900 lbs.
I have not yet driven the 6.2. The Tundra goes in for repair/evaluation tomorrow. I really just want it to be fixed and to move on, as I love the truck, but if there's any BS, I'm working on my backup plan. I also intend to drive a Tundra Capstone hybrid tomorrow, and if time, an F-150. As opposed to my Tundra, which I purchased, with any of these options, they would be a 3 year lease...

That couldn't have been a serious question.
I did ride in that 3 cylinder fast Corolla GR, it was smoother than I thought it would be.....
Still not a huge fan though.

You simply do not have the reaction time at those speeds to deal with any of the many things that could present themselves to you.
There is no reasonable argument that driving 130 MPH on a public road is reasonable or safe. Zero.

I warned both of you guys before, do not test drive the new Tundra. You just might buy it plus he’s test driving the capstone!!

No, I don't see him liking the Toyota Hybrid 3.4tt over the GM 6.2 V8, but we'll see.

I’m actually not that interested in the Capstone. I’d rather have a Platinum or 1794 so I can get the long bed. While I do like the new Tundra, the engine recall has delivered a major hit to my confidence in the truck. I’ll drive it, but I’m far from making a decision. The GM 6.2 with its fuel management system rattles me too. Not sure what to think at this point. I’ll test drive them all and see, in combination with what Toyota does with my current truck. Lots to consider.

Scotty had a 1794 on his channel a couple years back and I was very impressed with it. Beautiful leather interior and a really nice sound system. If I was in the market for a truck, I would look for one of those.
I don’t know jack about trucks, but that one seemed pretty nice. Has the proper engine and transmission as well.
Edit: I thought the 1794 was limited to just a single model year a few years back. I guess not and that just reinforces my point that I have no idea about trucks at all.

I kind of expect to like the Tundra hybrid powertrain more, as it’s significantly stronger than the 6.2, but I expect to like the Sierra more (as a whole truck). What I really want is to have my confidence in my current truck restored. I’m not excited at the prospect of buying a new truck. The new Denalis are around $85k. Ugh.

I wouldn't touch the 3rd gen Tundra with a 10 foot pole, given the issues. A recall on the hybrid engine is all but guaranteed to happen because it's the exact same engine built on the same line with the same parts. I don't think Toyota has figured out how to make it without the shavings yet.
If it were my money, it's either a 6.2 GM(assuming they fixed their rod issues and cylinder deactivation) or an F-150 with either the 5.0 or 3.5 powerboost. The 3.5 will tow better, the 5.0 will be simpler. Keep in mind the 5.0 Coyote, while a powerful engine, makes its power a bit higher in the powerband than other truck V8's. Still plenty of grunt though.

I hope the Dads in here were properly celebrated for Father’s Day. My brother has a Jag XJ L with a supercharged V8 and we took that to brunch. I’ve mentioned the car here before. The Jag has ruined the Civic for me but all of the a/c problems don’t help. Probably in a year or two, I will look to go upscale.

Steve is correct. One can spin it all day long, but there is no excuse for doing 130 on anything but a race track. Too many possible hazards. And you cannot ignore the laws of physics....the faster you go, the longer it takes to stop, and the harder the impact if you have a crash.

but since we're talking about the laws of physics, yes exactly! a car that can accelerate faster and brake harder can absolutely reach higher speeds more safely
