Did the model you drove have e-ABC? I'm a huge fan of it in the GLS.

I certainly can keep the W222, its just I have to buy a warranty and buy it out and all of that, and there are tax implications it would reduce my tax savings while not really reducing my outlay...
well that's the paradox of the flagship luxury sedan, the depth of the engineering doesn't truly make itself apparent unless you turn yourself into a criminal lol... if you do enough long interstate driving with the S and GLS back to back i imagine the W222's superior handling and capabilities will make themselves more obvious

No, you really have to special order it to get the eABC, my only concern about it would be reliability...

Oh no doubt, the S Class is superior for general driving, the utility of the GLS is just a tradeoff. The way the S Class just glides along at high speed is pretty special.

The other thing is I prefer the control and dash layout of the GLS to the W223 S Class. I'm hoping that the dash gets tweaked some in the 223 refresh.

At that price point, I'd have a hard time not getting a Range Rover.

I'd rather have a Range Rover, the issue is 12-18 month waits and huge markups still.

Is that the wait time for RR's without the 3rd row? I thought the standard seating configuration was a bit easier to find but perhaps I'm wrong.

Our local Land Rover dealer has a few Range Rovers and Defenders available. Not showing if they're spoken for and don't know if you do a special order how long it would take.

There are pretty much waits on everything...I'd like the third row too

Getting brand new and keeping 3 years I think minimizes that concern. I want one at some point in my life (maybe once kids are in college) and that's the only way I'll do it. I know enough people who lease these and it's the only brand I've ever seen them drive for 10 years. That tells me the headaches are worth it. The styling has always appealed to me and the driving position and visibility are awesome. Plus the interior design is 10/10 in my opinion.

Don't remember how long is left on your lease.. would you consider ordering a Rover now, rolling the dice and not paying for the warranty on your car post-lease while you wait for the RR to show up?

I never got to drive that W222 last week or whenever I said, but I rode around in it for an hour and a half at least. You definitely got that right.

Yes, like the W140 I remember, 85MPH feels like 55. It was tomb silent, and so comfortable.

I couldn't not have a V8. It was muted, but you could hear it. It reminds me of the UZ engine, it snarls similarly. Smoooooooooth too.

TBH overall it gave me the impression of a really REALLY fast, updated LS430 (but I'm sure handles a million times better). I'd kill to drive that car.

Saw an old ML500 earlier today and explained to a car full of people how that ML is a beater and tank for you.. I explained that the M113 V8 engine and 722.5 transmission are pretty much as solid as any other there.
