On that old one? It would knock my whole hand off my arm if I dare got near it lol.
You do understand why that is right?

Exactly.

I'm about to go on a 8 hour road trip this weekend in a S580. I'm looking forward to it.
Nice! I'm leaving for the pocanos this afternoon in my S560 too. I still look forward to trips in it almost 4 years in.

well when cars only made it to 80 mph there was no need to have more spaced out intervals lol

I actually find the numerals so close together on speedos like that I have a harder time judging the speed at a glance

I think it’s ridiculous that the speedometer in my car reads all the way to 160 when it has a top speed of 120.

Nice, enjoy. Front or back? Lol.

And yeah about pedestrian standards... I get it. I wonder when they stopped using actual glass for headlights.

Yep. It seemed like it was only GM that adhered to it, though I am most certainly wrong about that. My 1972 Fiat 124 Special sedan had a speedometer that went to 120 iirc. If I ever got it going that fast, I would have purchased a lottery ticket that day too.

damn you've got the interesting car history! which other unconventional imports have you owned? from that era of european cars i'm probably most interested in the citroen DS, hailed by many as the most comfortably riding car ever

Yes. On the stretch of Belt between UA movie theater and Ocean Pkwy I may have hit above 100mph a few times. The needle would go past 85 and hit the stopper on the other end.

I actually ended up switching that out with a speedometer that had the RPM gauge.

No, they were plastic. 95-97 were glass as were the 90-94
