Yeah, 2021 was a lifetime ago as far as car prices go. In 2021 my Pacifica had an MSRP $10k cheaper.

In any case, this is wayyyy more expensive than I thought it would be. Can't deny the cool factor, though.

$76k would surely get you quite a nice GX550 that at least has a proper engine and is a Lexus.

Not as highly optioned, and not as efficient. Thats a fully loaded Land Cruiser, most of them won't be that cost.

This is why Toyota has in its history not brought the most highly optioned of their cars to the US, Americans look at the loaded price and say "thats crazy" when there are versions available for $30,000 less than the fully loaded model very few people will buy.

Its a fallacy that everyone who wants a Land Cruiser would want a GX

I’m not sure about the new land cruiser. But the old Land Cruisers with the V8 had a special sort of appeal with the old money set. Sort of a stealth wealth vehicle.

Oh yes they will.... They'll sell way more close to or at fully loaded price than stripper/base models that are close to the $57k base which is still startlingly high.

I didn't say they did, I just said that you can get a GX for the price of the new LC. I would choose GX personally.

Only if demand is there, and if demand is there your point is moot. Do you really think Toyota is going to have a problem selling these?

I didn't say they did, I just said that you can get a GX for the price of the new LC.
And that doesn't matter. You have a bias against the LC because of the hybrid powertrain and its showing here. Options are not a bad thing.

Uhh, no. Read what I said again. More of them will be closer to the high end of the price spectrum. I'd put money on it.

I think for that money a 4cylinder hybrid powertrain sucks. I'd choose the Lexus, not just for the ttV6.

Then what is the issue with the price? If people will buy them and buy them loaded, the price is right.

So you're not the buyer for that vehicle. They will sell every one they can make to lots of other people.

I don't see why the LC and the GX need to offer the same things.

All I said was it's high.

I never said these wouldn't sell like hotcakes. Just that the ones that are on the more expensive end of the spectrum will sell more.

Your argument makes zero sense lol. If the more expensive ones sell more, then its well priced.

If something is priced too high, people won't buy it. If they buy it, its not priced too high. Thats how business works.

So just because people buy something overpriced it means the price is fine?

You are not reading me tonight. I just said that people will buy the more expensive ones over the cheaper ones.

Yes! If people buy it, its not overpriced. Thats Business 101.

What you're saying doesn't make any sense. You are saying that its overpriced and that people will buy all of them and especially the most expensive ones. That makes no sense. If it was overpriced people would not buy it. Being overpriced means its priced too high for its intended consumer to buy.

You don't understand the concept of something being priced too high and people buying it anyway?

As someone who prices and sells commodities for a living, that statement is nonsensical. If people pay what something costs, it’s not by definition overpriced. That concept you are talking about doesn’t exist.

An example I just had a listing that needed a ton of work that was priced at $350,000. Several people told me it was overpriced. We sold it for $435,000 with 7 offers. So, those people were wrong.

I tell my mom this. she’s looking at houses for sale in East Tennessee. And frequently complains about them being “overpriced”. I keep telling her they’re priced what the market is willing to pay and that’s that. And she just says “well we’re just gonna wait for the market to cool off and the prices to drop, then we can put in some low offers.” good luck with that.
