Duh, get it now. I've got one more driveway spot, maybe 2 for cars. Only 2 car garage. I love having all different kinds to choose from. Both the Lexuses blend right in with traffic.
I don’t think the S class is an acceptable alternative to a Flying Spur, at least in W12 form. The Bentley is capable of 207MPH in stock form. Highly selectable veneers, hides and upholsteries. Hand made in England. That is a car for a true aficionado, collector or discerning individual. Full disclosure, I had never known about the 6.75 litre V8 until just…reading up on,it, that is gone and that ruins the prestige IMO.

Unfortunately.M113 was pretty much Mercedes' last good V8 that was bomb proof, 250k+ motor.

It all depends on what you want out of a car. I just don’t see the appeal of driving something that expensive and that flashy on a daily basis, it’s a special car no doubt but if you want a car that’s going to be a daily driver, something like an S Class does that much better.

Japanese were superior. Toyota 2JZ was twin turbo, dual cam, was efficient and very reliable. 326HP in 1990. Many AmericanV8s weren’t making that power back then. Nissan I6 as well

VQ37 was potent but very coarse.

The original VQ that went into the 1995 Maxima was one of the best V6s ever made IMO. Motor Trend literally said "it (the V6) revs like no other engine this side of a V8 Ferrari." "World's best throttle response (with stick)". That was a fantastic engine, it really did rev like a MF. It was silky smooth and felt like 220hp instead of the rated 190.

IDK what the hell happened because the last ones were very uncouth at higher rev ranges. I would have traded some hp back for smoothness the older 3.5 and 3.0 versions had.

well 90s japanese engines are pretty much superior to anything ever... today though they don't have that same strong economy to support making THAT much of an effort again

Japanese small engines are the best engines today. For Toyota especially I3 and I4. No question about it. As you get to higher end stuff, it is less important as Toyota is after the next generation of gas buyer that will be able to afford cheap stuff, this will be the majority of the market at some point soon. And then all their full hybrid stuff adds huge economies of scale. I am thinking from an economic POV. I mean, efficiency, at the auto show, I saw 0W08 in the new Toyota Corolla but on the flip side it was amazing to see young teens and young adults flock all over the Corolla GR and the manual transmission. I should mention that the GR Corolla, is manual, not electrified, has 2 seats as an option, high HP per litre, 100 HP per cylinder, and has manual adjustable awd and finally it has front and rear limited slip differentials made by a manufacturer that will remain nameless. I can’t think of any manufacturer offers such a pure organic mechanical experience. Then all models have a gas and hybrid blah blah ..I just view them from an economic POV as being superior. Hyundai still thinks of the cheap cars in the same way. Same with Honda/Nissan/Subi. But other brands have superior engines in different areas..no,doubt it.

I saw a small Toyota that had one large wiper that pivoted today, like the left wiper in LS. Looked kinda neat.

I also noticed that while my LS430 wipers are great and silent, the MB Monowiper does get more of the windshield. It's noticeable.

Mercedes never should have quit those. I take the car out in the rain sometimes just to see it do its thing.

It gets beaten by an A4/golf with a tune. Massively overpriced for what you are getting and overheats severely

The 2JZ did get major fanboy status and I’m guessing it was from video games and perhaps videos of 1000+ hp Supras. I was on the way back to the office in the 1994 GS300 when the alternator failed. I took it to e Sears Auto Center because it was as far as I figured I could make it on the battery. The young service writer was very excited and said, “damn, you got a 2J!” 2JZ-GE. The T is missing as were the twin turbos. The GE without VV-TI was 220 hp. It was very balanced and smooth. My Dad described the acceleration as deliberate, which is fitting.

The internals are the same as those in the GTE. In my early days here, guys were doing big single turbos on the stock GE in the 1GS and doing big boost on otherwise stock 2JZ-GE engines with high mileage. It was fun looking at their dyno sheets with 700+ hp at the wheels. It’s a great engine and delivers smooth and reliable performance or high hp with turbos. I was very pleased with the 1GS. It was an older car when I bought it. I was 31, just bought a place, and was paying student loans. It was absolutely the best car I could have purchased at the time. I see old photos and see that it really was a beautiful car.

I actually really miss my pivoting LS wiper lol. Sucks they also lost that in the LS500.

Mercedes never should have quit those. I take the car out in the rain sometimes just to see it do its thing.

So they didn't entirely. The passenger side wiper on my S class pivots and does a similar square movement...
