I have to say, overall the exterior of the LX looks really good to me in all black, even the back of it looks good. The interior is just ok and I really want a V8 for our next SUV after test driving some V6/I6 twin turbos.

I've said I'd do this myself a million times so who knows if this is what's good for the gander, but save 40 grand and just get a Yukon Denali.
The Corvette V8 is fantastic in every way imaginable, interior is as nice as the LX I remember sitting in. The inside is just humongous even with the third row down. Shames the LX looks/bossy wise as well. It is every bit as or more refined as my (admittedly old) LX570, in every way. The GM engine is smoother and quieter than my 5.7, but that's not a complaint. 5.7 just rumbles and doesn't care. These new gen biggies want the engines to be luxury car quiet.
Restoring a car to it's former glory is a lot of work and money.
Can turn into a money pit fast. Lol
Oh yeah. He's doing this just for an experiment though. I bet that LS starts and drives relatively fine, just a Toyota that been beaten the hell out of.

The new ones are so outrageously good looking. Range Rover is the only smaller SUV that I think looks just as good as the big ones and has proper presence. It looks 40 times better than the Bentley one that costs way more.
