That dynamism goes hand in and with high speed stability though. The 430 is fine, it just has a floatiness about it at high speeds that isn’t confidence inspiring like a German car is, 460 does too but less so and the 460 is a much better handler.

Its absolutely at its best on the highway, but not at speeds over 95-100 MPH, that’s when that autobahn focus come in with the German cars. In the US though who cares because you never do more than 90.

Again, I don’t care what magazines say I have owned both cars, best possible ride is what I want out of a car like this which is why I too had the 17s.

It doesn't matter at all indeed, even with sport suspension and modern tires the 430 just can't hold on as well as a base 460 can. It's like it's standing still and sliding off the road at every turn by comparison lol!

The 430 is the best towncar ever made but it's not never going to come close to anything newer than a base W220, the 7 and A/S8 are just flat out incomparable. A W222 S63 also just absolutely mops the floor with the 460 yet alone 430.

The only LSs that are good are the F-sports and the LS500 in early years but they they still lose, are slow, and don't have ability to go soft and relaxed like German cars do when you switch to comfort modes.

430 vs 460 has been beaten to death and that's putting it mildly, let's move on.

For the few that do, my 460 felt fine above 95-100mph on the factory 19s in comfort mode😏

Nicely done! I had no doubt the 460 could hit those speeds. I bet the engine was nice and quiet too

Even the way the limiter stops the fun is silky, the way the rest of the car is, in my 430.

in my experience a well kept LS 400/430 is just as competent and compliant at triple digit speeds as an S-Class, but only up to a point... the more twisty and curvy the road gets the benz absolutely will start to feel more solid as the 'german-ness' starts to come through, but for just wide open interstate:

i really think it's tough to say if one is better than the other

Absolutely agreed. LS430 can cruise (straight) with the best of them. I never said a word about curves, yes it's a pig on roller skates compared to the big germans. I know I've told this story but I drove the LS430 at 125-130MPH for about 3-4 hours straight through NM bumfk in the middle of the night where there was NOTHING no cars no lights no nothing.. It was as effortless as 80. I was going so fast the low beams couldn't keep up. I have never seen miles tick by so fast on an odometer.

That was almost 10 years ago and she still feels the exact same lol.

The dumb drivers thread was closed, but it rained in SoCal today and I spent an unfortunate amount of time driving around. US American drivers are really not good. My parents are in their 80s and have a 2016 Honda Civic. Honda really effed up the a/c system on Civics, so I drove to their house Thursday and left my car so they would have something to drive. I took their car in to get the a/c warranty components replaced. The dealership told me the a/c evaporator is also leaking and replacement is $2100 and not covered. I said skip that and do the 2 things covered.

It’s disappointing because I now know I will be in the same boat soon and if my evaporator fails, I will dump the car. Meanwhile, through all of the car switching, there’s pretty steady rain and you still have the usuals cutting across three lanes at the last minute to make their exit ramp. It doesn’t matter to them that they nearly caused a 3 car collision in the lane to my right. Anyway, I bought my first and last Honda and I really don’t like driving at all anymore.

I would go to an independent for the AC replacement if you have to pay out of pocket.

Driving is more difficult in the modern era. But I don’t ever speed so it really helps with my well being
