Over $1,000-$1,500 in deductibles though the difference in premium tends to fall off. I saved $700 a year going from $500-$1,000, but going to $1,500 only saved me another $115 or something. The only reason my policy was $500 is I changed companies a few years ago and the new policy was so much cheaper than the one I had I just left them at $500. As it started to go up though I switched it to $1,000.

Its all about risk mitigation, and they know people with $1,000 deductibles are much less likely to file claims than those with lower deductibles, so the difference in premium is big, but above $1,000 the difference doesn't change much.

Its why people with huge assets don't pay for life insurance, they don't need it.
I have a $1k deductible. About two weeks ago, I was driving in the rain and I heard a loud tick. I knew it was on the windshield and left a star at a minimum but I didn’t see it because of the heavy rain. The windshield developed a crack and had to be replaced. My insurance didn’t cover it so it was $589 out of pocket, but filing a claim even with a $500 deductible would have been foolish because it would only be $89 and my premiums would have gone up.

Windshield replacement through insurance is probably $1500 because they probably use Safelight. They tack on a charge for sensor recalibration. The guy who did my windshield knows how to do the job without disconnecting the sensors.

I and we in CA are essentially paying high insurance rates to offset The risk from unlicensed drivers. I will avoid filing a claim if possible. It’s frustrating but it’s the reality.

I run very high deductibles since if I damage ANYTHING it's over 10k to fix it and anything lesser I can fix myself/pay for easily. All of my cars are setup differently based on value and how difficult they are to repair/likely costs. No one in my family other than my wife has ever so much as curbed a wheel and our main concern is other people hitting us so we have high coverage for under/non-insured people.

It saves a lot having a 2k deductible and with what I drive even a headlight going is $3850 per side parts only. So it makes no sense so me to run a low deductible as it will just bleed me over time for no benefit.

The only time we had insurance involved people hit and totaled our cars and they had no insurance. So we have setup things for that since that's the main risk from what we have experienced, the worst damage we have ever done to our own cars (my wife excluded) has been to the Jeep off road from branches and high centering. If I include the wife she dented the passenger fender badly enough to crack paint and would have cost $4500 to fix....I just sold the car for $3k more than I bought it for since it was dead to me at that point.

for collision i do $1000 since that makes the biggest difference... but my comp is $250 (no glass deductible) since that's the far cheaper aspect of the policy, and $500 vs $250 deductible for comprehensive amounts to like a few dollars difference every 6 months

Glass is a fear of mine on the Audis, over 3k to replace them with OE glass! I hate having non-original glass to the point I really hesitate buying cars without it and generally replace it with OE at first chance.

y.
Our insurance sends someone to come to your house and does it for free, we had it done to the old IS350.

Safeco is who I use and I have been consistently impressed by them over the years.

Those poles are no joke. It's funny in movies how they just pop over, uh no.

I think she said she only heard one crunch? LOL.

So many bad drivers these days.

I only enjoy driving very early on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Otherwise it's just a huge chore now.

It's mind boggling how incompetent some drivers are. Blows my mind sometimes. And how oblivious people can be.

like maybe 7-8 years ago just for the hell of it i looked up the price of windows for the LS, back then it made my heart skip a beat i don't even wanna know the cost now lmao

generally parts are more expensive on the LS than for the E55 (stupid lexus upper control arms) which i'll be honest i didn't expect! i think it's because all the non-AMG bits are just standard W211 parts, of which many more were produced than LS 400 parts

With the amount of people moving to east TN I'm sure the amount of bad drivers in your area has increased dramatically.

Although I know you've mentioned you lived in LA which seems like traffic hell to me.

It's the same thing I found when I went German, the top tier cars are just simply cheaper to run than an LS is for reasons like that. $2400 vs $800 for OE control arms is a great example lol!

Is also so much easier to find actual OEM vs Japanese brands.

And lol.... who cares??? The $500 is peanuts, it just has a much nicer ring to it than "a grand" if you make a stupid mistake.

I was told on here my insurance was gonna drop me lol. They haven't even raised my rates at all.
Then you’re the only person on the earth who insurance companies have decided they are happy to lose money on. Congratulations lol
