This X5 is parked across the street. Has been like that since at least 4pm according to my wife. Why doesn't BMW have a failsafe against this? The engine is not running as far as I know.

Are only one side of the lights on? If so, it’s designed to do that on purpose and the owner unintentionally activated that feature. They could’ve also just left the lights on. in any event, the battery management system would cut the lights off before it died.

Otherwise the car could be malfunctioning. I once had a Range Rover that would give my neighbors a light show every few hours and then drain the battery by morning.

Nope. Here’s a 2001 CL600 with an early version of Distronic:

Haven't tried it in the new one, but in my E46 and E90, if you turned the headlights on AFTER turning off the car, they would stay on indefinitely, by design. It's actually extremely useful in rare scenarios. You can also get them to come on for ~2 minutes by tapping the stalk for the brights.

But my guess is they left the car running.

I've had the same issue in my garage a few times. It hardly happens but there have been a few times after I park the car in the garage and hours later I come out to get something our of our garage refrigerator and the lights are still on so I go inside and hit the lock/unlock button on the remote to turn them off. I have no idea if I didn't catch it what would happen or maybe there are times I didn't catch it and as a failsafe it turned off the lights before the battery drained.

The good news is, since LEDs use approximately 1/10 the current of similar-output Halogens, this is still unlikely to kill the battery unless it is left like that for days on end.

You really like them? I found them so weird at first lol! I couldn't figure out why it had "block offs" at first, after I went over the SSPs I realized they were radars

So an old neighbor left their lights on and in middle of night I went to let him know but I really wanted to tell him is that his wife is cheating on him whenever he’s out of town. Unfortunately when he came to the door, she was right there with him so I never got the chance to tell him. The guy she was cheating with would never park his truck in the driveway and would only show up whenever the husband was out of town. He parked his truck at a vacant lot.

Funny thing is that, since parking is at a premium in NYC, everyone including myself would pull up next to it to ask the driver if he was leaving the spot only to discover no one was in the car.

Yes I would say that I like it and prefer it to the glassed over panel in the middle of the grille look of other OEMs. The Audi logo on particular would look ruined if they covered it with shiny plastic.

They look weird to me. Like there were supposed to be fog lights but a lower trim was selected. Guess it’s sort of fitting as Audi likes to do faux exhaust outlets

Fog lights are a gimmick anyway. I’ve never found them useful on any vehicle I’ve owned. I say good riddance.

Ahh. I did read somewhere legit that the mainstream MB models are adopting some of the EV styling cues into ICE models. Like these ugly rims:

I saw an LS430 with the PCS, Lexus did it better I think.

Even though there’s a good reason, I’m not a fan of these convex MB emblems. MB star isn’t supposed to be bubbly.
