No, you're not. IMO LS is more less like a "done" car. I test drove the LS when I was looking for a replacement for my GS. Even my wife didn't feel it would be a right car for us. They're totally different. I'm still in the "GS and alike group" so LS definitely is not a fit for me. I see a nice clean LS F sport with kit and all here and there with young drivers but rarely.

I think it took buyers from MB and Mercedes originally when it first came out, but its been a long time since it did that. Buyers graduate up from the LS and they dont come back.

This is where Lexus screwed up. If the LS had that TT V8 to compete better with the S Class and 7 series I think you'd be seriously considering it.

Even if your guy sends you good numbers I don't think you'd be happy with the step down in powertrain or the noise level you mentioned.

you mean 'that tt v8' that was rumored but never released?

i'd put the chance of steve getting an ls500 at 0.00%.

Exactly lol.

A heavily disguised prototype was caught in Japan in Sept 2023 testing out a TT V8 but nothing may happen.

I would choose the LS 500 over the W223 based on styling alone. The chateau interior with the herringbone woodgrain looks amazing. Sad to hear about the wind noise though. Interestingly I don’t notice much wind noise in my GS it’s mostly tire noise I hear.

Im sure the LS would ride amazing with proper Pirelli tires and not those crappy RFTs.

Getting around to the GL now, nice thing about air cars is that you can order them to test everything and do most of the diag work for you. Some can even see if the damper section is good or not based on valve response relative to vehicle motions.

Im still stunned how cheap the airbags are, far cheaper than coil spring cars somehow! Never once did I think an air car would be the cheaper suspension setup to own



On the flip side my 4.0 A8 needs rear struts to be rebuilt and I'm dreading it due to removal requiring so much to be pulled inside. That one is way more expensive but still "cheap" enough, $750 for new bags and shock rebuild for the rear pair.

If the W12 ever has an issue I'll scream since it's $2850 a side new and not easily rebuildable so I would have to send the actual struts in instead of doing it myself or swapping out with a rebuilder. However it doesn't have any issues so far nor do most of the cars with the sport suspension so I'm hopeful I won't have to deal with it for a while

Only if you only care about styling. I think the LS is beautiful, but the S Class is also beautiful and is also much classier and will get more attention.

The W223 S Class is superior to the LS500 in every way, rides better, better performance, more space, quieter, better technology, you name it. Even the salesman ceded the car couldn’t compete with the S Class, it’s just cheaper and has its own unique look and that appeals to some people. He told me he personally hasn’t sold an LS in several years. He was amazed I would even consider it lol

The low sales-level of the LS may not necessarily be because of comparison to an S-Class. The market for large/luxury sedans in the U.S. has been going downhill for years. That's why the Kia K-900, Cadenza, Hyundai Azera, Toyota Avalon, Chevy Impala, Buick Lacrosse, Lincoln Continental, Cadillac CT6, and others like them are no longer available...and why the Chrysler 300's days are also probably numbered. How long the Genesis G90 and G80 sedans will be available in the U.S. is also an interesting question.

haha, is more attention important to you? saw you also mentioned you didn't prefer white next time because people won't know you got a new car.

i'm always caught by surpise when anyone looks at my car. i was getting in my lc the other day at a medical facility and this guy was walking into the parking lot and yelled "is that yours?" i said yes. and he said "that's bad ***, man!" i got a good laugh over that.

hmm, you did write in your ls comments though ...

The paint and build quality are excellent, better than the S Class, ... the seat massage is excellent, thats better than in the S Class too.
He was amazed I would even consider it lol
ha, well you're not really considering it. basically wasting his time.

I care a lot about styling. And the new S class I haven’t warmed up to it yet. I’m still stuck on the W221. The W223 It just looks so bland and watered down to me. And the interior with the glossy black plastic and no ***** and buttons wouldn’t appeal to me. I think I’d rather have a late SWB LS 460 over both of them. My Lexus dealer has a nice 2017 in stock. So many things I like better on it….
