Yeah no, not anti-Lexus. I just call it like I see it, this engine is very complex and it has had some issues. You said yourself Jill you would take the 4.0...because its less complex and will be more reliable.

Whether its a manufacturing or a design issue, both issues would be Lexus/Toyota's fault so I'm not sure how one or the other makes me anti-Lexus...

You're obviously not anti-Lexus lol. That's why her comment was silly.

I never said that lol.

How is it a design issue? It’s a manufacturing issue. Of course it would be Toyota’s fault. Nobody has claimed otherwise

i also don't see you in an f150.
I actually have an 840hp dodge that I built back in 2017-19 around this concept, it's idiotic but fun and is my "muscle car" but man it's stupid......7mpg and will spin at 60 mph in 2wd even with the LSD

So funny enough I started with domestic muscle trucks lol!

I didn't know the Yoshiwara plant exclusively makes the LX.

‘Toyota moved the LX from Tahara a while ago. A little strange to move it when the Land Cruiser 200 and 300 were built in Tahara. I believe the new Tundra engine uses parts that are made in Japan but are assembled in the US. Early Tundra 4.7 engined were made in Japan, and then the assembly was made in the US. Same happened for the 5.7

No we aren't. This thing is a failure and literally a worse design than a 1997 Audi V6 and blows up far far far more

typically toyota has been good at isolating the good aspects of what mercedes has done and replicating them at a reduced cost, this is not one of those things worth replicating (talking about the W206 C43 specifically lol)

I've heard that too, the old 5.7 is $8,000 apparently.

Difference was they fixed it before the engines actually were out in cars and the other FAR less commonly occurring problems were solved quickly and the engine ended up as the current cyclone V6......that at worst had intercooler freeze, cam phaser rattle, and carbon issues with a fairly rare case of a rod being ejected. However I already did and continue to make fun of them for all those issues and even still the rod out the side of block issue is FAR MORE RARE than this.

This is insanely bad.

AGAIN, I’m glad you enjoy that. None of that appeals to me at all…that doesn’t mean I’m not a car enthusiast. I just like stock cars.

Well my V8 is on an engine hoist out of the car right now lol. Has nothing to do with V8 vs V6, it has to do with complexity. What makes Toyotas reliable is a lack of complexity. Now that they are complex, watch the reliability will be nowhere near the same.

It’s a trade off though, having had a TTV8 I don’t want a NA V8 any longer so complexity is the name of the game.
I tow my car because the tracks I visit are 4-10hrs away. Plus having a trailer I can/will push harder on the track knowing if something breaks and I can’t fix it there, I’ll just load it back in the trailer.

Nothing wrong with driving a stock car. If my next car is a LC, it most likely will stay stock minus maybe a few aesthetics. But if I pick up an A90 Supra, it will see mods/more boost.

Reading stories like yours is why we won’t be going back to Mercedes. Have family and close friends who have traded their Mercedes for Lexus. Toyota/Lexus may have shot themselves in the foot going away from NA engines. The only other Toyota/Lexus I would buy at this moment is the 5.7 or a NA PHEV. Interested to see what they do going forward.

I have a friend who has a S-Class. While it hasn’t been a nightmare, there have been issues with her car. Hesitation starting up on acceleration which thet could never correct. And constant pairing of her cell phone issues. When there is a problem, it does seem t0 sit in the shop for quite a bit of down time.

What Mercedes did you have prior?
