I wouldn’t be surprised if they went to tire shop and asked for a set of tires not asking what brand tire long as the price was right.

I used to track on 2 wheels and now track on 4 wheels. A good set of tires is everything!! Example, I made a ONLY tire change, went back to the same track and dropped 4 seconds.

200tw tires, if I’m lucky last me 5 weekends. I tried to stretch an old set to 6 weekends and it took me 3-4 laps to get some heat in them.

My sister had to get a mismatch tire because no one had a run flat in stock even the Lexus dealer. Luckily Toyota dealer had the size she needed and she paid dearly for it.

Yeah. That has gotta suck.

what goes through my mind with these giant wheels and sometimes staggered size tires is that what happens if you shred a tire late at night when you are driving out in the middle of nowhere or a small town in remote America. No spare Imagine the difficulty of getting a tire of a special size. No such worry if driving a LS460…but a serious problem if driving a LS500

I buy a set at a time. The exception was when I had a tire issue that could not be repaired so I bought one replacement but it was the same brand and model as the other 3. I saved that tire in case I have a similar issue in the future and there’s a lot of life in the remaining tires.

Just have $2000 ready to tow it back home if nothing else. If you drive something high end/uncommon you need to factor for that type of situation

Oh crap, you're right....for some reason I was thinking it had the ES headlights. The refreshed LS had me fooled.

My wife's 330i was wearing a single Bridgestone and three Pirellis because we were on vacation out of town when she found a razor blade in one of her tires... and all they had in stock was the Bridgestone. We had it like that for over a year without incident before we finally replaced the rear tires. Yeah, it was on the rear.

It happens. I judge people a lot less now that we had that experience. I mean, what are we going to do? Drive on the spare back home over a couple hundred miles? Nope. And then, it was like... well, we just spent full price on the Bridgestone, so we're at least going to put some miles on it.

Having said that, if the Bridgestone was actually the kind of tire we wanted - I honestly was fine with the OE Pirellis, so, no thanks - we might've switched all four to that one instead of waiting until the rear needed replacement.

Our friends drive down to Disney once a year from NYC. They had an XC90 until this year. Last year, they blew out a tire somewhere in GA, on a Sunday. I'm sure you can guess the rest of the story. Not fun.

If I have to replace a tire and they aren't all pretty worn, most I'm buying is 2.
