Although this is from a British source and not American, here is an interesting link on the subject of EVs being past their peak..

Battery EVs will peak at 30% of the market. Anyway, it’s great news that VW is gonna put money into gasoline engines

Of course they’re not. But BEVs are not gonna grab more than 15-20% market share annually, if that, ever.

Let’s not argue this, I could have put this in EV chat but I figured I’d get flamed.

Just another huge automaker to eat their words. Turns out Americans like gasoline powered vehicles!

ha... does she buy cheap ones? because they're absolutely terrible. many people think all drip coffee makers are the same. they're not. the biggest difference is that cheap ones don't/can't heat the water hot enough, so the coffee tastes terrible. i've been through a bunch until i got a cuisinart. i've had 3 or 4 of those i'd guess, each lasting several years. they're awesome and still not very expensive. maybe you can get your mom one.

about tires, i won't drive with mixed brands or mixed wear amounts. just can't do it.

the lc500 with its run flats though... i'd like to have non run flats for the more comfortable ride, but i'm not sure i can bring myself to do that either, but then again, my ioniq has non runflat tires and a fix a flat kit and i live with that. still, my lc only has 8k mi. on it so the tires are fine for now, and a set of decent tires for it is $2k so i'm ok waiting on that decision.

Michelin Primacy tour is available in your size.
and would ride way smoother than whatever RFTs are on your LC now.

They are nowhere near their peak. They will eventually be the dominant technology, it’s a foregone conclusion. They’re the future and gasoline is the past. It may take longer to get there than many thought but it will get there. More and more governments will force ICE out and it will just no longer make sense for carmakers to make primarily ICE vehicles.

My kids will very possibly never own an ICE car, or perhaps one depending on what I buy them.

Those are good tires but they aren’t dynamic enough for the LC, I would stick with an ultra high performance tire.

But would be a substantial step down from a grip perspective. Stock tires on the LC are Pilot Super Sport RFT. Pilot Sport 4S or the new Pilot Sport S 5 would both be a more appropriate replacement, and would provide even better performance along with more comfort.

Or he could go to a Conti Extreme DWS06+ or the Pirelli PZero AS/3s I have for even more comfort

That is incredible. My brother has an ‘85 that our Dad bought new in February 1985.

Thats what I thought about my GS, But the ExtremeContacts are too loud and harsh for my car. Also I’m going to downsize to 17 inch wheels when I get the P7s.

It might depend on how hard he pushes his LC on winding roads.

Those tires are not available in his staggered tire sizes. Also he lives in FL so he’s not limited to all season options. A summer tire like the Pilot Sport or Pzero would be good options. Actually the Primacy is the ONLY all season option in that size. The rest are Max performance summer.
