The previous gens were great cars.
What it shows is if a company wants to compete with the S Class they need to go bold and have their own selling proposition...otherwise people are just going to buy the S Class.
I know a guy who has one, and I have talked to some random people I meet that have them. The guy I know, he says he gets only positive feedback, and the car gets more attention and comments than any other cars he has had (he also has a G Wagen, a Mclaren, he had a Ferrari, a Range Rover SV bright blue with black racing stripes...

Not really, the prior gens always stuck me as a "5 series plus" type vibe though and this new 7 truly stands apart and that appears to be working.
It also has a very imposing look that instantly gives RR vibes with the squared off grill etc. That helps to set it apart even more

to any non-enthusiast who primarily buys an S-class just to have the best, latest, most trendy thing available, the EQS can absolutely fill that role... despite us realizing it never truly could

If you look at the group of people on MBWorld there are a lot who would never have bought an S Class.
By that logic we should include 8 series GC figures in the 7 Series figures. What about all the people who trade a 7 in on an X7 or an S in on a GLS?

Point is just because they have two models that overlap buyers doesn’t negate the fact that this closeness in sales figures is a big win for BMW.
The lease deals also aren’t dramatically better on the 7. I hope to order a car next week and the i7 with similar MSRP is $130 a month less, and a 760 would cost more than an S580.
Still have not decided between the two. I know the spec I want in each.
