Forgive my dirty AF car. The outside is always spotless.
My S560 was also fully carpeted like that. Weird.

BTW the new car is incredible. Ride and drive is a big improvement over the old one which didn’t seem possible. This is without a doubt the quietest, best riding car I have ever had perhaps have ever driven.

Fantastic to hear. I love the door handles how they pop out, they are SERIOUSLY high quality. They definitely got that part right lol.

Glad you love the car, we'll all have fun hearing about it... Love the color and rims.

The popping out is cool but a little silly lol.

First gas, not because I needed it but you know....20c off Tuesday lol

Speaking of silly, I did this little mod. I didn't get this cap for the S560 because it says "AMG" and its not an AMG, but I got it for this one. If the OEM floormats can say AMG so can my gas cap lol. Its real metal:

Still using your Giant Food discount points on Shell?

I see, printed on the filler-door, you have to use at least 91 octane, so that extra price over 87 will offset some of the discounts.

I'm surprised that more of the industry, besides just GM and Ford (and Ford gets the credit for having invented it), has not shifted to the simple capless-refill system. It does away with all of that buisness of where to set the gas cap while refueling, cheap plastic tether-cords breaking off, driving off and leaving the cap sitting on top of the pump, and the cap-seal itself wearing out, having to be replaced, and/or triggering the Check-Engine light.

I'm not saying that you do any of these things (you probably don't)..but a lot of other drivers do. I used to see a lot more caps lying on top of the pumps before GM and Ford converted to that capless system.

$20 cap vs $250 filler neck replacement. I love the tankless ones since the small EVAP leak is free money for me lol!

Every car I have ever had except my Explorer has required premium fuel. I’m used to it lol

It has a tether, and it has a little hole the peg sits in on the door. Capless is fine (Pacifica is capless) and this is fine.

My experience (before I had GM's capless system) is that tethers are flimsy, poorly-attached, and tend to break after about a year or so.

So Chrysler is using the capless system now? Good to know.

that’s a nice touch. The OEM plastic one is a little cheap looking for such a expensive car

Jill I have the same gas cap (before he modded it), it's substantial feeling. I just had it replaced actually.

The tether on my E46 broke after 10 or 11 years. Didn't bother me since with the nice mounting hole for the gas cap (which has a pin tip that fits snugly in it) on the fuel door, it didn't really serve a purpose anyway. I could see how it would be more important on American/Japanese cars with the terrible bent sheetmetal "shelf" that you're supposed to hang the cap's threads on.

E90 and our inherited Nissan both still have their tethers after 13 years, and the Audi after 7. If they all broke tomorrow I'd only replace the Nissan's, because of the aforementioned garbage stow point for the cap on the door.

I have never had a tether on a gas cap break ever. The 22 year old car I own has the same cap and tether it had 22 years ago. If it were to break? I would go buy a new $20 cap.

This is just no big deal. Cap less is fine, it’s nice not having to take the extra step with the cap but it has downsides like Striker said.

Chrysler has had cap less fillers at least since 2014. My 2014 Jeep had one, 2011 Jeep had a cap.

Funny you mentioned the sheet metal holder thing, the Toyota has that and I hate it. I removed the tether on the W12 so I can easily place it in the holder and use it as a cup of sorts to guide the nozzle in and out to avoid drips/having to get the detail spray out
