There was a Sunoco not far from me that used to offer 100 Octane Race Gas. It had a checkered flag logo on the pump. I'm assuming people would fill up before heading down to Cecil County Dragway.

It looked like this but it was def 100 not 110.

yes. 94 octane here. Not at every location but definitely available

Sunoco has 94 in the US

And going from 94 to race fuel costs 60 cents per octane number. Ouch!

Here's an oddball. I was looking for 100 Octane gas near Knoxville in case AJ wanted to go wild with his LX lol.

I've def never seen Ethanol free 90 Octane gas before.

94 is $5.49/gallon. 110 is $14.99/gal. $9.50/16=59.4 cents per +1 octane.

That must be essentially racing-gas. I have never heard of 110 Octane for any street-use.

I mean, it does literally say that in the picture that @LH1 posted that we're discussing:

And I directly referenced it as such in my post about it:

It's because it doesn't need it. LX had 383hp, LC 381. Minuscule difference. Your LC does need premium as you know, it has a sports car engine pretty much. This is a meat and potatoes truck engine we're talking about.

Why do you all not get this? It's not a tt Mercedes V12, it's a truck engine with a low 10:2 compression and it's naturally aspirated. Like I said, if this 5.7 were only used/designe for in the 570 and asked for premium it would be different. This is the same V8 that went into god only knows how many Toyota trucks. Regular gas is fine.

Hugggggge debate in the link, it's almost dead even.

I want the 2 HP and the better torque curve because I want the best performance my vehicle can give me. We understand your argument we just don’t agree with you. If you didn’t always come down against any kind of concern about fuel mileage this wouldn’t be so odd to all of us.

I do not believe Lexus specified premium fuel for “marketing”. They did so because it made the vehicle perform a little better and since it’s a luxury vehicle they wanted their customers to have the additional performance. Which as that type of customer, I agree with.

Down the line when people buy them when they’re old and used I suppose you don’t want all that performance but as a new buyer I do, that’s how I’m wired. People who run regular are looking at it as a $40k truck and I’m looking at it as a $100k truck.

There is no better torque curve. You get 2 hp for the Lexus brochure if you use premium. It’s NOT the same thing as, for example, the 2 different Northstar output numbers on the old SLS and STS.

It makes 90% of torque at 2200RPM on 87, and trust me…. Torque is the order of the day with the 5.7. It was designed specifically for American use.

We're 3 pages in on a debate about octane ratings.

Anybody do anything cool with their cars this weekend?
