And let net tell ya.....40 down low is a MASSIVE difference just cruising around.

It didn't feel any different at all... because it's the same engine. Same computer, ECU. compression, etc. If Lexus really wanted to retune that, spend the money and resources to give LX owners a meaningful difference wouldn't they give it more than 2hp??? There is no way I'm missing 40ft/lbs of torque at 2500RPM because I'm not running premium. No offense but that's absurd.

But I'll put some premium in tomorrow and run a few tanks.

Did you not watch the video of it going up the big hill and not even cresting 2k? That was in 2nd gear start, too. Gearing, yes, whatever had something to do with it.... point was it's a strong engine with lots of torque and that video confirms it.
KCLV needs to adjust to proper fuel, clear system memory and then do 5 0-100 runs or thereabouts. My LS460 picked up .4 seconds 0-60 after I reset and drove it on proper fuel

Go to the link on IH8MUD and read stories for yourself. It's about split even. Again, not one report of a damaged engine from regular fuel.

There are plenty of talks about tunes.

The bolded makes zero sense. We can talk tunes etc etc but the 5.7 makes 383 horsepower on premium, up from 381 in the LC and Tundra. So how is that "way more horsepower"?
Half the guys on there think a cold air intake does something. I wouldn't take them seriously at all vs dyno charts

Premium vs Regular is the #1 most controversial topic I’ve seen on car forums. Tens of pages people arguing back and forth, no one ever convincing the other party they are correct.

That's the truth. #2 would be motor oil brands, weight, types change frequency etc.

Thats because one side knows how engines work and the other doesn't.

It's actually not a very complicated issue. Higher compression engines, and many engines with turbo chargers require premium gas due to it's higher ignite point, while regular gasoline has a lower flash point, and the higher heat generated by performance engines can pre ignite the fuel causing engine knock, which is why they pull timing. So if you drive a Toyota Corolla, you don't need premium.

Better yet, check the owners manual, and save yourself a big fight with your fellow forum members

Just filled it up with premium. At least 3 tanks I'll go through.

You don't either vehicle with the 18 year old 5.7 that went into hundreds of thousands of trucks asking for 87, yet I can't find one instance of engine damage caused by cheap fuel and I've looked.

And nobody's fighting, I'm not. I just said it's absurd to suggest I'm missing 40ft/lbs of torque at 2500 RPM. I've run premium before and felt no difference. It's got a full tank of premium and we switched cars this week so I'll be driving the LX.

That wasn't directed towards you or anyone else, it was just a general statement. What does your owners manual say? That's your best guide

It says use 91. That’s the argument. Nobody suggests using 91 in a car that the manufacturer specifies 87 will be of any benefit. The poster is suggesting that his engine is the same as the engine in the Land Cruiser which only requires 87, so he can use 87 and Lexus suggestion it should have 91 for best performance is fake. Issue is as per the dyno results that have been presented clearly the LX has a different engine tune than the LC, which is obviously why Lexus specifies premium in the LX. He says because his engine hasn’t blown up it’s fine, but in reality nobody has suggested using 87 would hurt the engine only not take advantage of the better tune Lexus put into the LX.

That’s the cliffs notes version lol

Oh I was talking in general too, not at you.

It says 91, but as I've said I think that's BS.

I will let everyone know if the drivability is different now, remember guys I've owned it 3 years now....

I'd like to move on, duly noted to those who think I'm wrong.
