I don’t report to Carfax so my garage oil changes won’t pop up on Carfax 🙃

manufacturer recommended service intervals scare you away?

I don't entirely disagree with you, but some transmissions today cheapen out by not providing a dipstick or even a conventional drain-plug and O-ring....in effect, they are sealed for life.

I know that you have never agreed with me on my admiration for the Saturn S-series compacts, but, besides the ding/dent/rust-proof side body panels, one other excellent feature they had was not only a conventional drain/fill plug, but an ingenious screw-off transmission filter with a reusable magnet inside to collect iron/steel metallic debris. It went on and off in jiffy, prevented a lot of drip-mess, and made transmission service a breeze.

No transmission is sealed for life. They can all be drained and filled.

The issue with anecdotes is they are just one persons experience. When you do preventative maintenance you are giving yourself the best chance of having your vehicle last as long as it possibly can. Your one experience means nothing statistically. The best advice is to do the preventative maintenance not skip out on it.

Some people live to be 100 years old and never go to the doctor or have any screenings like colonoscopies or mammograms. Does that mean telling someone not to worry about doing those things and they’ll be fine because some people are is good advice? No it’s terrible advice.

I'd just leave it. The transmission is still ok I'm sure. The older Tundras had transmission coolers. I can't think of one transmission failure off the top of my head I've read about.

seeing different advice on here:

Fuel Requirements = follow the owners manual
Transmission interval = don’t follow the owners manual
Oil change interval = don’t follow the owner’s manual

my owners manual says 87 and 10k oil changes. I missed the transmission interval on my last Tundra. It still ran fine so I said forget it.(plus it’s lifetime right lol) I’m going to try to do it this go round

Noted. That’s what I would do.

Haven’t reached 60k yet but I may do it this time around.

Speaking of all this, it's about time for me to change AHC/Diffs/transfer case fluid swap!

This will be the second time it's had those fluids changed. First time around 80k.

I bet I could go easily to 200k on the fluids with no problems, but nah.

Well, be sure to use lower-spec cheaper fluids a few grades below the ones that Lexus recommends. As both your seat of the pants dyno and those super-helpful driving videos you posted that clearly showed us the torque curve, both of which were better and much more accurate than any actual data, they clearly have no idea what their own vehicles need and I for one am fully on board with showing Lexus and their so-called "engineers" the error of their ways.

The key word is higher.

Did you know Toyota sold the new Tundra in right hand drive? In Australia. Requires premium fuel

No, I'll be using Lexus spec for maintenance.. You wanna lose the tude? I don't go after your decision to buy the stupidest pickup truck ever made.

I've driven around today and haven't felt an extra 40ft/lbs of torque on premium fuel..... I'll tell you that much.

LX doesn't need premium fuel!
