the peak torque is at 500 rpm higher too so def looks like bigger turbos... that's good info to know for anyone looking to pick one of these up at some point lol
i suspect that 385 hp is probably underrated too, especially considering the new C43 (which is an AMG lmao) has "more" power but gets consistently outgunned by the previous V6 model... that is assuming the W206's engine hasn't yet become clogged with sand in the coolant

I actually liked the C400 without all the tacky AMG bling….. oh you want the sport (not AMG!) trim now you are saddled with a 4 cyl only..

No one bought the C400 though. The C450/C43 didn't just get bling, they got a different AWD system and suspension. They drove very differently and sales increased.

I guess I’m oddball then. I just like the bigger engine with the understated elegance and softer suspension tune. I have no interest in owning a vehicle with red seat belts, red brake calipers, carbon fiber trim, And AMG badges smattered everywhere.

In any event, their strategy got what they wanted which was more profit off the same number of models.

I get it. You're just a small population for the C-class. Enough E-class buyers exist that fit your profile, which is why we still get regular V6 (W213)/I6 (W214) E-class models.

as letterman would say during the 2010 tonight show debacle between leno and conan: don't kid yourself folks, if those executives didn't know what they were doing they wouldn't be there! /s

yes it's a great strategy for increasing immediate profits, i just don't think it's good for long term...

If anything, I'm curious to see how these standalone electric AMGs turn out on the amg.ea platform. 2025 will be interesting...
