I have a V8TT in my X7 with about 30k miles and I’ve never had to add oil. Doesn’t mean it didn’t burn any, but I haven’t noticed. What I have had to do was add coolant twice in those 30k miles and of course since I bought some coolant from BMW I haven’t had to use it yet. I’m hoping if I buy out my lease it doesn’t start burning more oil.
I hadn’t run a front plate on any car between 1993 and 2019 and it is required in CA. I received 2 citations for speeding over that span. One officer didn’t say anything about the front plate. The other officer asked if I was aware that I don’t have a front plate and that it is required. I said understood and he said ok. That was it. No ticket.
See that’s crazy. We got a ticket in a parking garage for no front plate once in LA.

I won't have a problem in my area. But if I ever go into the city lack of front plate is a primary violation, and parking at the airport would 120% guarantee a ticket. So I just won't do either of those things in this car.

I would be temped to just half *** ziptie a plate on if I went into a city with stupid rules like that. However I'm in your camp and only take beaters into those cesspools lol!

If I were actually going to go either place, I'd buy a Sto 'n Show. 5 seconds to put the plate on when going into harm's way*, 5 seconds to go back to it never having been there afterwards.
*this is grammatically correct, but for some reason looks stupid.

LAX is a place where police look for it. Parking lots around LA are too. It’s easy money for them. Write the ticket and leave with no confrontation. I used to leave the front plate on the dash on the GS because there was nowhere to mount it due to the body kit. I am 40 miles southeast of LA in Santa Ana. I wouldn’t park a car for long at SNA airport, but I never had an issue while dropping off or picking up.
I don’t really care for LA.

Front looks good. I like the interior too. the dumb tail pipes are a bit of a disappointment. I do have a soft spot for the Explorer…but it is still a Ford.. I wouldn’t waste my money.

I had an Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer years ago and it was a great car.
My first car was a 95 Explorer Limited, so I definitely have a soft spot for the Explorer.
I went and drove an S580 and an S580e again today. As much as I do like that i7 and 760, I think Im just an S Class guy. Something about it is just different to where the 7 feels like a downgrade. My salesman said the lease deals this month are terrible for some reason and that we should wait to talk until next month. I would likely wait for the refresh unless they just offered me a killer deal on a 24.
I still don't feel that its a huge upgrade from my S560, but if I'm only going to keep the S560 maybe a year or so and they can make me an S580 deal that is somewhat similar to my S560 deal it makes sense to just upgrade. I like the S580e, but I just don't like the feel of the 6 cyl when its not in EV only mode at low speeds.
Here also is my concern about keeping what I have, this is a 2018-2020 S560 with front air suspension failure that was clearly towed in and put up on blocks in the lot:
