American Honda Starts the Year Strong with January Auto Sales Up 10.3%
February 1, 2024- American Honda January sales increased 10.3% YoY (93,210 units) demonstrating continued momentum in 2024
- Honda brand sales top 84,000 in January, a YoY increase of 12.7% on balanced sales of both cars and light trucks
- Honda electrified sales set a January record of 17,004 units, with both CRV and Accord hybrids posting best-ever January sales
- CR-V tops 26,000 units, up 31.6% YoY
- HR-V sales remain strong with sales up 49% to 11,956 units, with Pilot topping 7,000 units, up 10.6% YoY
- Car sales of Accord and Civic combine for over 28,000 units with Civic up 23.6%
- Acura brand sales of 8,636 units in January were led by Acura SUVs, with MDX and RDX topping 5,800 units, and RDX up over 50%
- Integra continued to lead all luxury gateway competitors in the New Year with January sales of 1,865 units

SUBARU OF AMERICA REPORTS JANUARY 2024 SALES RESULTS
- 18 consecutive months of continued yearly month-over-month growth
- Forester regains top seller position – up 24.8 percent
“January was a strong sales start thanks to the hard work and commitment of our retailers,” said Jeff Walters, President and Chief Operating Officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “With new models poised to join our current lineup of trusted vehicles, we have big goals for 2024 and we are confident it will be a winning year.”
Forester regained its position as the top performer by volume with 12,619 vehicle sales, a 24.8 percent increase over the same month in 2023. Crosstrek sales followed closely behind with 11,325 vehicles sold in January, and Outback sales also remained strong with 11,300 vehicles sold. In addition to these sales volume leaders, Legacy posted a 17.5 percent increase over the same month in 2023.
“Subaru’s sales results in January continued an 18-month streak of consecutive year over year increases as retailers have doubled down on providing a customer experience that sets Subaru apart,” said Troy Poston, Senior Vice President of Sales. “Car buyers have increasingly more and more reasons to choose Subaru as we meet their needs with a line of vehicles that match their lifestyles.”

- Kia EV sales increased 57-percent year-over-year
- Four Kia models achieve best-ever January sales: Carnival, Sportage, Forte and EV6
Sales of Kia’s rugged and capable SUVs increased over the same period last year and accounted for 74-percent of January sales. After launching in December, sales of the all-new Kia EV9 3-row EV SUV rose 27-percent to 1,408 units in January, powering a 57-percent overall increase year-over-year for Kia EVs sales. Four Kia models posted best-ever January sales, including: Carnival (+81-percent YoY); Sportage (+16-percent YoY); Forte (+10-percent YoY) and EV6 (+9-percent YoY).
“Kia’s sales continually increased over the past few years, and we’ve established a solid foundation to build upon as the industry transitions to electrified models,” said Eric Watson, vice president sales operations, Kia America. “With our flagship EV9 three-row EV SUV off to an impressive start after being named 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, and Kia’s rugged and capable SUVs continuing to gain market share, Kia will charge ahead in 2024 with 6 new and significantly redesigned vehicles scheduled to arrive in showrooms.”
In addition to the monthly sales performance, Kia America announced several initiatives, including:
- The all-electric Kia EV9 3-row SUV was named 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year™ by the North American Car of the Year (NACTOY) jury. This is the 3rd occasion in five years that the NACTOY jury has named a Kia vehicle as its top choice in the category, and the 2nd win for a Kia electric vehicle (EV).
- Kia partnered with Riot Games to become the official sponsor of the League of Legends League Championship E-sports series.
- Kia America’s return to the Super Bowl with the brand’s 15th Big Game campaign for the all-new, all-electric EV9 three-row SUV.
- Kia Corporation and Uber signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, committing the 2 companies to collaborate on Kia’s planned development and deployment of PBVs.
