FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 1, 2024 – Hyundai Motor America reported total January sales of 47,543 units, a 9% decrease compared with January 2023. Hyundai set total sales records in January for Santa Fe PHEV (+273%) and Tucson PHEV (+927%), Palisade (+14%), Kona (+14%) and Kona EV (+37%). Hyundai’s electric vehicle sales grew 42%, while battery-electric and plug-in hybrid models saw a combined year-over-year increase of 77%.

“Coming off a record-breaking 2023, January was a difficult month with economic challenges and interest rates making it a tough retail environment,” said Randy Parker, CEO, Hyundai Motor America. “There were bright spots with sales of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid achieving substantial year-over-year growth, and our all-new Sante Fe starting to arrive at dealerships.”

SUBARU OF AMERICA REPORTS JANUARY 2024 SALES RESULTS

  • 18 consecutive months of continued yearly month-over-month growth
  • Forester regains top seller position – up 24.8 percent
Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today reported 44,510 vehicle sales for January 2024, a 0.8 percent increase compared with January 2023. January also marked the 18th consecutive month of month-over-month sales increases for the automaker.

“January was a strong sales start thanks to the hard work and commitment of our retailers,” said Jeff Walters, President and Chief Operating Officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “With new models poised to join our current lineup of trusted vehicles, we have big goals for 2024 and we are confident it will be a winning year.”

Forester regained its position as the top performer by volume with 12,619 vehicle sales, a 24.8 percent increase over the same month in 2023. Crosstrek sales followed closely behind with 11,325 vehicles sold in January, and Outback sales also remained strong with 11,300 vehicles sold. In addition to these sales volume leaders, Legacy posted a 17.5 percent increase over the same month in 2023.

“Subaru’s sales results in January continued an 18-month streak of consecutive year over year increases as retailers have doubled down on providing a customer experience that sets Subaru apart,” said Troy Poston, Senior Vice President of Sales. “Car buyers have increasingly more and more reasons to choose Subaru as we meet their needs with a line of vehicles that match their lifestyles.”

Mazda Reports January Sales Results
IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 1, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported total January sales of 30,279 vehicles, an increase of 31.8 percent compared to January 2023. With 25 selling days in January, compared to 24 the year prior, the company posted an increase of 26.6 percent on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis.

CPO sales totaled 5,088 vehicles in January, an increase of 10 percent compared to January 2023.
Sales highlights include:
  • Best-ever January sales with 30,279 vehicles sold.
  • Best January sales of CX-50 with 5,733 vehicles sold.
  • Best January sales of CX-30 with 7,773 vehicles sold.
Mazda Canada, Inc., (MCI) reported January sales of 4,474 vehicles, an increase of 42.4 percent compared to January last year.

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported January sales of 6,336 vehicles, a decrease of 4 percent compared to last year.

IRVINE, Calif., February 1, 2024 – Coming off the highest annual sales volume in company history in 2023, Kia America delivered 51,090 units in January with growth across the brand’s SUV, utility, EV and electrified vehicle offerings.

Sales of Kia’s rugged and capable SUVs increased over the same period last year and accounted for 74-percent of January sales. After launching in December, sales of the all-new Kia EV9 3-row EV SUV rose 27-percent to 1,408 units in January, powering a 57-percent overall increase year-over-year for Kia EVs sales. Four Kia models posted best-ever January sales, including: Carnival (+81-percent YoY); Sportage (+16-percent YoY); Forte (+10-percent YoY) and EV6 (+9-percent YoY).

“Kia’s sales continually increased over the past few years, and we’ve established a solid foundation to build upon as the industry transitions to electrified models,” said Eric Watson, vice president sales operations, Kia America. “With our flagship EV9 three-row EV SUV off to an impressive start after being named 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, and Kia’s rugged and capable SUVs continuing to gain market share, Kia will charge ahead in 2024 with 6 new and significantly redesigned vehicles scheduled to arrive in showrooms.”
