Anyone ever give a thumbs up to the driver of a passing car that you liked?

Probably this depends on whether you are in urban or suburban location.

I likely won't do it in LA nowadays.

I sometimes see a car in parking lot with owner nearby. If I like the car. I sometimes wonder whether to give a good compliment or just a thumbs up.

I tried to give this snot girl a friendly wave who was in an SL400 when I was right beside her, but she just gave me a really nasty look.

I'm married hon, not trying to cat-call. Get over yourself.

At least mine has a V8 and doesn't look like it was designed by 3 different people lol, IDC how much faster that is.

Lighten up Frances, she just gave you a ‘nasty’ look.

Lol it's rude! That's not how people are here. It was just a friendly wave.

Know how many conversations I've gotten into with owners and past owners of these? LX as well. And LS too for that matter.

No biggie. I just don't care for rude people and try to live my life by the golden rule, and it works 95% of the time.

Probably not a good idea to wave at people of the opposite sex

I tried doing something better this morning than waving to each other in a car. Saw a nice condition 2nd gen Prius parked near shopping center, pretty ok for something that had to be at least 16 years old, and when me and the wife walked past the couple loading groceries into it, just told the guy, "Nice car man. 2nd gen Prius?". The guy smiled and confirmed it. "Great condition", I then told him, and he said "Thanks!" and we walked away. So that was nice I probably would have talked shop more if the wife was not there, but that might be edging into creepy territory lol

Even worse. Haha

Now she thinks a married man is trying to flirt. Lol

Girls get hit on 24/7 so they will always assume you're trying to hit on them and the thought would never occur that you were just giving thumbs upping her ride.

Lol...

Well she can get over herself, she was driving the ugliest SL they ever made.

What were they thinking?

There is absolutely nothing attractive about that front end, it looks like it has flared nostrils from doing too much cocaine.

Saw a white 5th gen Prius on the lane to my right and tried to match his speed in stop and go traffic. Gave a big thumbs up when I did, and he reciprocated by waving. Too bad I wasn't on my 3rd gen though. Anyways, that was nice.

I have to say he was driving real slow and giving a large space between him and the front car (you can see it in the pic). Probably being very careful with his new car....or, you know, maybe being the stereotypical slow ^&$%^&$% Prius driver hahaha

ps. I really like the huge PRIUS lettering along the back.

So, you waved at the car even though you thought it was the ugliest SL they ever made?

He was trying to stay in EV mode.

Of course I did. It is the ugliest SL ever made, but still an SL.

Good guess!

I have a larger pic of it and it does not look like it's Prime. If he stayed below a certain low speed he could move in EV without the gas engine.

Did one better.

A nearby neighbor who I've never met (we are relatively new to the community) had his garage door open yesterday while detailing his sports car (a Maserati).

I was passing by and he has a gen 4 Prius, with custom license plate that I had noticed before. Also has a Hyundai Ioniq (wife's car).

Instead of just passing by and waving or giving a thumbs up, I stopped and engaged in convo about his cars.

Really nice guy and we spent half an hour or so praising the Prius (he gets 60+ mpg on the damn thing, beating me, and he loves the cargo space on it - we also exchanged talk about how people are always amazed at how big the interior is). He also showed off his Maserati. I didn't want to stay longer because was interrupting his detail work, but yeah, one can meet new people and make friends over cars
