You can micro polish piano black trim but it's a royal PITA, in some cars they have black wood with a clearcoat on top but that's rare and I've barely seen it anywhere and it's only in a few places on my W12.

Agree. The clear coat that are durable are for example on Lexus steering wheels over the woodgrain. They are varnished and polished. Expensive to make. You're not going to get this on Camry or even Merc plastic interiors.

The black is the worse color which contrasts with scratches on soft clear plastic. Even glass will show up with abrasions over anything that is black. And the worse is that they put it on high touch areas, like where you drop your keys or drink bottles. If shiny is the look to go for, then aluminum is the best material, as it can be easily polished if scuffed:

That reminds me of the trim I wish I could have gotten:



It was available through 2022, but discontinued when the dash was redesigned for 2023.
