Discount tire removed most of their car lifts and used manual floor hydraulic jacks?

Oh so it's in a random old building, around here it's all custom shops that are designed for access from both sides and 10 bays etc.

Makes more sense why they ditched the lifts if that's what they have

Yup, they have been around forever. Great service, they have all the latest road force balancing machines and alignment machines but they just crank out tires. No appointments, you just show up and get in line. Owner is a huge car guy and drives several RS Audis.

I asked them why and they said lots cars, such as Tesla, can not take the lifts. I don't quite buy that. The floor jacks do not have any pucks or cushion. I am concerned that it may damage cars' pinch weld. Luckily, I only drove my old Toyota car there today. Anyone also notices that? Thanks.
Not sure if the Tesla part is true, but besides the pucks they sell big rubber pads for most lifts now that help with lifting EV vehicles. If they have a high ratio of vehicles that don’t need all 4 corners lifted I can see ditching the jacks.

The Discount Tire I’ve used since 2010 has always used jacks. That location opened a few months before I first went to it. They knock out so many cars so fast and have experience with expensive wheels too. I’ve never had an issue so far but I only go to this one location.

Otherwise I’ll use my wheel repair guy or I had it done at work.
