Discount tire removed most of their car lifts and used manual floor hydraulic jacks?
Today, I went to one of the discount tire shops in Dallas area for tire rotation and surprisingly found that they used manual hydraulic floor jacks to lift my car. It appears they removed most of their car lifts and only left 2 lifts in the entire shop. Note: the floor has been paved and the removal looks permanent.
I asked them why and they said lots cars, such as Tesla, can not take the lifts. I don't quite buy that. The floor jacks do not have any pucks or cushion. I am concerned that it may damage cars' pinch weld. Luckily, I only drove my old Toyota car there today. Anyone also notices that? Thanks.

If thy put the jack at the same location as they would the lift, why would it matter?

Tesla has pucks that fit into the lift points for jacking. I was at my Discount Tire a few weeks ago getting my Ranger's tires rotated and saw them using the pucks and a floor jack on a Model Y. I was happy to see them doing it correctly.

It’s so they can change tires more quickly on more cars at once. The tire shop I have used many times here is the same way. It’s a big open bay and they just use floor jacks, lets them work very quickly.
I see no issue with it.

Check your rims (take pics) before and after your have your car serviced there. I’ve gone to two different Discount tire and both of them scratched my wheel. Luckily I had before pics so they took care of it.

My Discount Tire shops use lifts and also put pucks on the lift points. Probably either way is not harmful if done right. I can imagine the jacks would give shops more flexiblity. They don't make changes without some calculations.

I can't really see how removing the lifts adds ability to do more, you can always just pull a car into the lift without using said lift. I know I would always rather have a lift for speed and ease vs ground work.

Do ya'll think maybe the tire chains are hiring less experienced help and the floor jacks help limit the damage their employees do to their customer's cars?
Just spit balling ideas and trying to think why the switch to floor jacks.

No, they did not increase spots. They just removed the lifts on the same spots
