I like that speedo cluster.

Dam right. Haha

Yank out all those traffic light cameras and let them EARN their "revenue", the good old fashioned way.🤓

hmm... don't like all the strong reflections on the cowl. i think those are 'real' lights as opposed to an led/lcd display.

i guess the red mark below the speedo needle is the warning?

Most people in my city drive 5-10 Mph over the speed limit. and traffic enforcement is slim to none. So there’s no incentive to drive the speed limit.

I can’t even imagine the pushback and outcry over this given that MOST people speed, I think people will find a way to disable or silence this feature.

Eh, only works if they can catch up and somehow are able to monitor everywhere and aren't detected first.

Yeah you can see the dividing line between the central portion of the LCD cluster and the upper portion where the indicator lights (and most of the speedo/tach ring) are, at ~132 mph and ~1300 rpm.

Speeding laws is all nonsense.
Never worked and never will.
Having 50mph speed limits that haven’t changed in 50+ years while cars have performance that has significantly improved is comical.
Hell - NYC is lowering speed limit from 25mph to 20mph and on some streets to 10mph. The revenue from speeding cameras is not generating enough returns at current 25mph levels……

The article states that the warnings will be both visual and audible. I think most cars already do the visual part, I know all of mine do. I just ignore it. The audible part would be annoying but the article states that it goes off at 10mph over the speed limit, so it's not like it would be going off when you go 61 mph in a 60 mph zone.

It'll be interesting to see if this passes or not. I suspect it will.

I think blinking/flashing on screen is a good reminder. Beeping would be really annoying. Some cars already have this "feature".

Lucky you. Some newer BMWs are locked out for coding.

I'm surprised CA isn't mandating a speed limiter like in 18 wheelers.

Let's start with them even making an attempt to enforce it.

Lame, and digging now I see lucky is the right word, as the 3/4/i4 is one of the only iD8 platforms that can still be coded.

I'll pour one out on the curb for my homies.

Correct, it will draw that red line from the speed limit up to whatever your speed is. I'm doing 80 in a 65 here.

I think I'd prefer a "Get out the passing lane becuase you are slow as hell," alert.

Or maybe a "How about you drive at a speed comparable to the flow of traffic" alert

won’t be the first time. CA emissions were more restrictive originally before 50 state emissions was a thing.

How about make sure your “driving the flow of traffic at the end of the on-ramp”.
