I don't believe that is correct. I think it was the second gen RX that went from the 3.0 V6 to the 3.3 V6 mid-generation (RX300 to RX330).

Also, I think it was in 2016, when Toyota discontinued the 2.5 V6 in the IS and swapped over to the 2.0t (IS250 to IS200t).

The ES did the same thing, mid generation, as I recall (ES300 to ES330).

As for the Tundra, while the 5.7 stayed the same, it was mid-generation that they switched from the 4.7 V8 to the 4.6 V8.

Lexus also added the V8 IS F mid generation on the 2nd gen IS and they added the V8 GS F in the middle of the 4th gen of the GS.

I also think maybe the 2nd gen GS V8 option went from the GS400 to GS430 but I could be off on the gen. May have been third gen.

3rd Gen GS went from 3uz to 1UR once the UR was done

The RX got a refresh/partial redesign from 300 to 330 and that's really the same engine and nearly the same hp rating

Cant argue that the IS got the engine replaced with a turbo but it's a lateral move at best

The top engines though never get replaced in generation and the UR engines are all just derivatives of the 1UR that they used for about 15 years. Top versions never got replaced by anything new across multiple generations even

the 2nd gen RX launched with the 3MZ, which as you note is just a slightly larger version of the 1MZ that was in the 1st gen. But midway through the 2nd gen, they switched to the 2GR, which was very new at the time.

That's fair, I always forget about that refresh for some reason. They spread the new V6 everywhere that's for sure
