I think all Volvo SUV's/Crossovers are available as mild hybrids, plug in hybrids and fully electric so they are well positioned in the EV area.

Always liked the current S60. A proper sedan shape, with a traditional upright trunk. Not a saggy hatch rear-end that many have gone to.

I believe around 2014, i visited a Volvo dealer to check out an XC90. They didn't have any in stock nor a demo. The sales person insisted that i order one to check out with no obligation to buy and no deposit. I believe dealers got incentives on customer orders back then. Crazy after all these years, the XC90 still looks basically the same.

We'll see....maybe you guys are correct, and Volvo will manage to remain in the U.S.

Ten years ago, it looked like both Mitsubishi and Volvo were about ready to jump ship by 2014, and yet managed to hang on.

Haven't looked at a Volvo in several years, but my wife drove three sedans over a 20 year period without any issues. Bought a 1993 850 in late 1992. Volvo's first front wheel drive vehicle. A five cylinder and one of the best all around vehicles we have owned. She had two S80s (2000 & 2006) until December 2012 when I got her a 2013 ES300h.

I really like the XC90 and XC60 exterior styling. I almost got XC90 years ago and the design has aged incredibly well.

What I don’t like is the 4cyl powertrain and the interior dash/tech.

I have yet to see EX90 and rarely see S90.

My thoughts and all. They have the BEST exterior design language in the industry and I love the rich interiors. But the tech and powertrains are garbage.

I bet Volvo will last longer than Buick, despite not having Daddy's Money like Buick does.

Buick is actually doing pretty well...they had a big sales-increase last year, which has so far continued into 2024. And the Encore GX and Envista have brought a number of younger buyers into the brand. So your Old-Fogey stereotype is a little outdated.

Oh...and, BTW, although it was a used one, not new, I got my first Buick when I was 19 years old. Top that one.

I'm not necessarily worried about it....sleep is a lot more important than that LOL.

However, most of the companies that I have predicted in the past would leave the U.S. DID leave within a few years. The only one I've been wrong on so far has been Mitsubishi.....they have shown very surprising staying-power, despite relatively low sales and a sparse dealership network.

I have a soft spot for Volvos.

I've always like them but have never owned one.

Took a trip to Texas this weekend. Ironically they gave me an XC60. It's actually pretty nice driving. The ride quality is great. Transmission smooth. It's very quiet. The base stereo is pretty weak. And i can't figure out how to disable auto start stop. I'd probably take the Volvo over an NX.

On pre-2022 XC60 models, there was a way to disable it through the dash-screen by shifting some icons, but, on 2022+ models, that apparently can't be done any more when they added Android. You couldn't disable it on GM products, either, until a few year ago, but then GM added a button for it. The problem is that they won't add a button to disable it permanently....you have to hit it every time the engine starts up.
