Never cared for the clamshell hood. Looks cheap and downmarket, and usually used on econo cars...

i agree.
i... just... couldn't... 🤮
not all, it has steering wheel and voice controls. and the materials on the new one are nice. i want a gauge cluster or hud too, but this bmw interior is just gaudy/tacky imo.

I get the sense that this interior will look better in person, as the angles don't seem to translate well to photo, at least the style of photos used for marketing.
Still don't like it though. I'm partial to the G30 era of bimmer interiors.

Was checking out Savagegeese's new X2 video review today and it is beyond belief that it has stitched pleather upper door sills and dash while the X3 is a giant slab of almost hard plastic.

It isn't. Everything above the "leather" is fabric in the X3 pictures at the top of the thread. The only hard plastic is the lower door, below the armrests.

My Lexus has a soft vinyl-ish dash too.
That might be the norm except for super luxury cars.
Now that I think of it I'm not sure I've ever seen a leather dash on any of my cars.
My BMW roadster and CL500 I don't think we're leather either.
