VW have taken the wraps off the refreshed Jetta and Jetta GLI for model year 2025.
The most obvious differences are in the exterior style department. The new headlamps are slimmer and feature LED reflector modules. The cooling openings in the front fascia have been reorganized to provide a slimmer top grille and larger lower grille. Overall, the front end's style features have been simplified. A new front light bar, like we see on some other VW models, is optional.
The interior sees some updates while keeping the overall aesthetic similar to prior years. The new infotainment screen now protrudes from the dashboard and sports newer software. There is a new 8.0-inch touchscreen as standard that replaces the outgoing 6.5-inch touchscreen. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are now standard, too. A new interior color on the SE features a leatherette and microfiber combination seating surface in a two-tone Seawall Blue + Storm Gray color scheme. The Jetta Sport now has Molekular cloth seats as featured on the GLI 40th Anniversary Edition.
The drivetrains haven't seen any changes, except for the removal of the manual transmission on the Jetta. 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engines are still used on the standard and GLI models respectively, with the same power outputs as before. The GLI still features a manual six-speed transmission.
The IQ.Drive safety system is now standard on the Jetta, notably. It includes front and rear radar, a front camera, emergency braking assist, lane-keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control, among other things.
The new Jetta S has a base price of $23,220, a slight increase over the 2024 Jetta S manual's base price of $22,660. The new car is auto-only, though, so this is actually a net savings when compared to the outgoing car.
I was hoping for better styling for the Jetta.
What exactly, I don't know but they've always had a unique appearance and they now kinda blend in with the crowd.
But, for a car in the $20k's, might be a killer deal for these.

I'll be honest here and say I like what they did with the front end. As a former owner of a 2020 Jetta GLI, I never really loved the front end. I thought it was somewhat bulky in appearance. The new front end makes the car look lower and sleeker.
The rear with the taillight bar is predictable but something different, at least. I also love the new oval exhaust tips on the GLI, as well as moving the GLI badge to the center.
And yeah you hit the nail on the head. The Jetta is still pretty darned affordable. For what it costs, you are getting a reasonably good car.
