The quoted time is still slower than the F90 M5 quoted time. Real life #s will be lower just like the F90. It’s just simple physics with way too much weight relative to the additional power.

Also current M5s depreciate pretty significantly due to maint/repair costs, this thing will depreciate like a rock as it will cost a fortune to fix out of warranty.

In positive BMW news - they cancelled the XM monstrosity which will be gone after 2026/2027 MY.

It's gonna be horribly received just like that C63S and they'll go back to V8 power, just like MB is.

That curb weight is just plain insanity. Answering a question nobody asked.

it is still a twin turbo V8, or do you just mean ditch the hybrid system?

Ditch the hybrid crap. That curb weight is ludicrous.

Unless you can get the EU to change their minds, we're not getting rid of the hybrid crap. Based on the EU's inane CO2 emissions regulatory requirements
This heavy V8 monster will have lower CO2 emissions than the measly Golf GTI (39g/km as opposed to 139g/km) based on the fact that it's a PHEV as it really plays into the EU emission calculations. Real world emissions be damned.

Overstyled rear, like most current BMW's. Not impressed with the numbers or the rest of the car.

Previous gen M5 looks much better. Typical BMW and their questionable design choices nowadays... I was highly considering getting the previous gen M5 to replace my S7, but I waited too long and now we have this monstrosity.

I realize these are high end expensive cars.

I think 300 HP is plenty for a luxury car, non performance.

Start getting up into 500+ HP is wacky.
But hey, If I was young again, maybe I would want one.

The M5 is something of a performance model.

you need 500HP+ to move a sporty sedan that weighs more than a X7.

Yeah I hear you friend

I forgot we're talking about a 5,000 lbs plus performance car. Lol

Now, 500 hp in a light weight sub 3k lbs Porsche(if it exists) would be ridiculous.

I think Porsche 911 GT3 RS matches or exceeds that.

how many m5 owners actually take it to a track?

or do they just race 3 seconds at a time from stoplights?

i'm sure it's more the latter haha... although i've had my fair share of 50-100 pulls against M5s and M3s over the years so many are definitely down to use them 'properly'

would be interesting to see how this one does on a track vs the old one, which was basically already too heavy for serious track use
