7000 units a year is considerably more than the 200 series sold. You wouldn't think they sell that many based on here, but it seems like every LX570 they ever sold is in this city lol.
300 is inferior. I drove one yesterday, oh lord let me count the ways. Not just the drive, the whole thing.

A $100k Lexus is a hard sell any way you look at it. The Germans are willing to put out super low volume high powered V8tt engines just to destroy their competitors. Lexus will only offer the V6tt or the Tundra's iForceMax at best or the PHEV V6 from the TX. Lexus just doesnt have the wow factor to play in that segment. Perhaps if they electrified the V8tt from the upcoming whatever sports car, they will have a shot, but they wont do it.

Yea but shoppers will naturally compare the Lexus to the big German brands. Buyers of the Suburban is looking for utility with some luxury and no $100k Lexus even comes close in terms of utility. Toyota screwed up the Sequoia with a completely dumb 3rd row, otherwise they could have Lexified it and charge $100k for it.

The LX is already over $100K. A hypothetical TTV8 LX would be more than the most expensive $135K LX600. Lexus is not a value brand anymore. Hope people get ready for the upcoming $70K ES.

Lots of consumers out there who will pay Lexus $100k for a great proper premium vehicle like me.

Audi isn’t exactly doing all that great in the SUV segment

Yes but they desperately need said cars. Lexus used to equal or beat everyone.

Just because their sales aren’t hurting doesn’t mean that they aren’t missing a huge opportunity. Their average transaction prices are some of the lowest in the luxury segment.

No, they're not hurting. Problem is, though, that there are no true high end cars anymore except the LC which I do love and the LX which I don't. LS is a joke.

The 220 was a prettier car IMO, but thats really where its edge stopped. We drove one in 2001 when we were looking to replace the LS400 and then again when my Dad finally did get the LS430 in 2004, and the car just did not feel like it was worth the price delta from the LS. My Dad really wanted an S Class too and could afford one but it just felt like a downgrade.

Lol uh yeah they were. W220 is a rolling ****box compared to an LS430. So was 745i. You still see LS430s all over the place. It may not hustle back roads like a W220 but car for car it's not even close. LX570 doesn't really have a German competitor, maybe GL550? Junk compared to a J200.

Definitely I can see that. LC500 is huge but considerably smaller inside than the Merc which is strange. Not crazy about that or the driving position… The coupe I remember just “falling into” which was much better.
