I currently own a 2019 Lexus NX F Sport, Atomic Siver, 67,000 miles, black interior. I am getting ready to put new brakes on it and the tires are less than a year old. My maintenance contract has run out and it’s up for the large 65,000 mile maintenance. (Did not get it in for the 60,000 mile maintenance) I am torn between keeping it for another year (great shape, high interest rates right now) or trading it for a 2023 NX or RX 350. Would love your thoughts.

My advice? Go for the 2023 NX. I have test-driven both the First-Generation NX (2014-2021) and the Second-Generation model (2022-present). The newer one, IMO, is far better in noise isolation, refinement, ride-comfort, and overall general driving pleasure...the former one, IMO, had too much cost-cutting in its design. The newer NX will also usually be less expensive than a newer RX, so you will be saving some money.

Thanks so much for the info. I do wish the NX sat a little higher up although I don’t think the RX sits much higher. And am I correct that any of the 2023 models have touchscreen? Do any have heated shearing wheel?

I actually thought about a Bronco, but I don’t think it will be a great trade in value down the road and I’ve heard they are selling them high because there is such a demand out there for them. I do love the Lexus brand but what else would you consider?

I'd say that if you want to stay with Lexus, either the new RX or NX will be a step up from the prior-generation NX. As Bit pointed out, though, there are lots of good options in the price range.

For instance, the X3. If you can snag one of those before BMW switches over to the new 2025 model year, I'd highly recommend it. I am a Lexus fan and serial Lexus customer, but I honestly see no reason to choose the NX over the X3 other than, potentially, reliability. The X3 is faster, roomier inside, and, except for the hybrid versions of the NX, will get better fuel economy. I've had a 2023 X3 for a little over a year now and have been totally happy with it.

But, that's only one example. And, I will say, from my experience driving the new RX, the interior quality is a highlight of that car. I have not been in the NX yet, but I suspect it will be better than the prior years.

agree with arentz, the x3 is really worth a look. and being rwd-based it will drive and handle better, and the proportions are so much better.





i don't care for the nx interior dash design either with so many angles, curves, and the screen looks old even though it's a. new design.

Agree you should at least take a look at the X3. A much better vehicle than the NX at around the same price, especially if 4 years is your normal ownership duration.

I also would recommend taking a look at the '24 X3 if you're interested. I currently have one (in white just like the one bitkahuna posted above) and it's been great with no issues. Before this one I had a '19 with no issues except a couple of service bulletins which were taken care of when it was in for routine service. As mentioned, there are a lot of good choices out there.
