Once you let other countries leadership have control over your brands - it typically doesn’t work out well. Nissan is not main focus of the Renault ownership group. They should have remained independent or partnered with Honda / Toyota like Subaru did.

The same demise has happened to Dodge/Chrysler with the takeover of Stellantis. No US executives left to fight for the American brands. The new products like the Hornet are just a rebadge of European model. No investments into new V8 etc.

I think ultimately most of these brands will cease to exist and Chinese market brands will be taking over in a significant way over next decade.

For the most part, buyers in the U.S. don't want Chinese-built vehicles....and will probably be boycotting them. Buying a new vehicle is not the same as going to Walmart or Target and plunking down $30 for a new Chinese-made coffee machine. This could be even more of the case if we get stiff new tariffs on those vehicles next year.

Have you seen the stuff people buy? It's absolutely a race to the bottom with the vast majority of people buying the absolute cheapest possible thing that sorta does the job.

I bet most people won't even know where the car is built. If it's not a pickup truck or muscle car, I don't think the average buyer cares.
