I got a bit of a chuckle out of him saying that you needed to be careful about going too fast when the turbo kicked in on that 1984 Daytona.....all 142 horsepower when it was on boost.

Zero. But, in general, I do not use the turbo very much because of my conservative driving style.

Never mind the HP figure....it had enough torque (which is the figure that really matters on acceleration) to push you back heavily in your seat. That was not a chuckle...that was a fact.

Yeah.....I've driven a modified 2.5 common block turbo II with the shelby manifold and trans, it's not that much TQ. Like it's not bad but it's most certainly not a modern engine level of power and that was an engine that was making 270hp

No, it's not like a modern high performance engine. I won't argue that.....but it was fast for its time, and surprised me the first time I drove it....once you got past the 3-second turbo-lag LOL.

all this turbo talk seems rather unrelated to the escalade.

Well, turbos do tend to put a spin on things.

OK, then, back to the new Escalade. Anybody in Car Chat actually own one yet..or get a test-drive? Let's get some owner/reviewer-input.

Sometimes dealerships get advance-samples before they go into mass production. I got to see the all-new Lincoln Aviator, for example, before it went into full production, one morning at Ted Britt in Chantilly when a Ford official brought one down from HQ as a factory-demo vehicle. If my memory is correct, I think they even allowed me a brief test drive.
