It was more of a push--- they specifically and frequently told us the best choice was the diesel because god forbid we get less than 70 MPG. Part of that hate/replace-fossil-fuels movement that you don't see because you're on that side, WADR.

Nobody wanted a slow AF Escalade, lol. Shock.

A diesel in an Escalade is a keeper.
It will never work hard enough to kill it aka 500k mile truck.

It’s a magazine, they make a recommendation and people are able to do with it what they want. They’re not pushing anything.

What side am I on? There are no sides lol. When have I ever bought a car based on what fuel economy it gets? Never once.

Yes, they are. You just don't see it, conversely, in the way you feel certain I don't see things. We were overwhelmingly told to get or strongly consider the diesel. Used to not be like this.

Car and Driver's legacy isn't pushing slow cars just because Uncle Sam wants less fuel used.

It's all so ridiculous anyway, just all of it. How many jets are above us, the continental USA right now and always????? They don't run on milk.

I just don’t register or care what any of these magazines or reviewers tell me I should buy. Like you said, nobody bought the diesel so clearly most people don’t care either. I don’t see what the big deal is. If magazines bother you just don’t read them. I don’t, I get all my reviews on YouTube now.

This car is BOSS. I really don't care what anyone else thinks, if I had the means, this includes the running costs, it would be a tough decision between this or a RR.

Ordinarily I would disagree, but in some cases you're right. Sometimes that old Cadillac bling got a little out of hand.

Difference is livability. The RR is easier to live with. Much costlier though.

Just curious, since I have no experience with these cars, what makes the RR easier to live with? Is it the smaller footprint?

I'm with you, I've only seen a couple of V models and that is what I would buy but in the short version. I don't think the price premium of the V is worth it but I would still get it. It's just more truck than i really need and I wanted to go smaller, not bigger.

The RR is unibody and more Carlike. They’re a little smaller, lighter on their feet. Easier to drive day to day in an urban/suburban environment.

Tacky overall. Front styling looks like a Star Wars X-Wing Fighter.
The bigger the interior screens, the more clogged traffic will become. Triple the distraction. When today's lights turn green, no one goes forward anymore. Fiddling with electronics.

I know you don't. I haven't read them in years either, I just read road test blurbs I see online. I don't listen to them either, hence the 32 cylinders in my driveway.

But several, several legit publications pushed the diesel over the 6.2 whether you read them or not, or care or not.

I've never really driven a RR, and I'd like to... but I don't want to waste anyone's time.

I like diesels

I was considering a diesel A6 before getting the GS back in 15, but I started tracking which gas stations near me had diesel and it was only about 50%. That plus me liking the interior of the GS better sealed the deal
