2010 LX570 or 2014 IS250 AWD??
Hi All,
I'm new to the Club. Thank you all in advance for your replies!
I'm in a bit of a predicament. I'm deciding whether to keep my 2010 LX570, trade it in for a 2014 IS250 AWD with cash on top, or sell it outright.
I am considering letting go of the LX570 because I have chosen to return to school to pursue a degree in engineering. I don't feel that it's the best fit for me to use the LX as a putt-around car. My fiance and I don't have any kids, and we aren't planning on having any until at least after I finish college. We live in the Midwest, so having AWD is vital to us. The campus is only about five miles away from my house. I have two other vehicles as well: a mint 1999 Chevy K1500 (OBS) and a 2008 Subaru Outback with a new remanufactured engine, which hasn't been driven in the past year.
Out of all my cars, the LX is my first choice to try and sell because I know that I'll be able to get the most cash from selling it. The Chevy would also be a good opportunity for me to make some money back, but its age, coupled with its amazing condition, makes me hesitant to let it go (I'm sure we've all seen plenty of GMT400s rusting away on the road).
I'd hate to let go of my LX. For many people, it is very much a Summit Car. I know that this truck will likely outlast all of my other cars and many other vehicles that I could consider purchasing. My mindset is fully financially motivated at this point. I still need about $10K to continue comfortably into my sophomore year in college this fall.
I'm concerned that the LX is "too much car" for my current needs. It is effectively like bringing an Abrams tank to a knife fight...
There's a dealer in town that is interested in my LX. They have a 2014 IS250 AWD with 76k miles, one owner, and was maintained by Lexus dealerships until an event led to insurance totaling the car. The car has been rebuilt, and a rebuilt title has been issued. Of course, if I continue with this option, I will have my mechanic and perhaps even my local Lexus dealer look over the IS250 before I seal the deal.
If my mechanic and the Lexus dealership both approve of the IS250, would it be a terrible decision to trade in my LX570 for the IS250 with cash on top?
If there are any clarifying details I can include that would help you better respond to this situation, please feel free to ask for clarification!!
Thank you!

Yes, it would be a bad decision to trade for the Lexus that has a rebuilt title unless you want to get married to it for life.
Any dealer is going to want your LX570 as it is a highly desirable model. If you want to trade or sell it, keep looking for a replacement.
