Definitely not. A friend of mine, however, once had a 1994 MR2 Turbo...bought it new in Manassas. I helped him clean it and take care of it....drove it a couple of times. He often got compliments that in that bright red color the body style looked like a small Ferrari.

Speaking of supercars etc I was going through body stiffness metrics and a lot of sporty cars aren't nearly as stiff as you would think.....the S class beats most of them as does the A8 but that is expected with the aluminum body.

Way over my head.
Thought never crossed my mind to investigate that, dammit I'm still a rookie. Haha 🤓

I only looked since I drove a car that conventional wisdom would say is stiff but it felt floppy vs my daily, after looking it clock in at only 17500 NM/* vs 44000 and that explained why it felt like it did.

That old MR2 and a modern mid engined C8, Lamborghini, Ferrari or Mclaren have very little in common lol

Agreed......but that is not what I was getting at. He got a number of compliments saying it looked liked a Ferrari......the bright red paint and body styling gave a strong Italian vibe to it.

I think I encountered @AJT123 's sleep paralysis demon today......it was a GMC Yukon hybrid(GMT 900). I forgot they made those.

Italians when people mistake Fieros and MR2s for Ferraris:

Yeah I can see it.

Have to do some heavy squinting but the slits on the side just ahead of the rear tires, Ferrari Testorosa.

I agree with the obvious statement that the MR2 doesn’t look like any Ferrari ever made. Toyota never marketed the AW11 or SW20 as Ferraris on a budget, but I have heard that from fans of both generations. The AW11 is not fast, but it’s a boot in the *** to drive. I have never driven an SW20. I have only driven 2 mid engine, RWD cars and those are the AW11 and the early ish (1994) NSX. Both are a lot of fun. Neither are world beaters.

Ferarris are great and I will always like to go and admire them. My uncle owned a few over the years along with a Pantera and several Shelby Cobras. We stored one of the Cobras for about a year and it was a narrow body 289. I was a kid, so this was late 70s. Damn it was fun when my Dad exercised it because my uncle said enjoy it until it sells. Those cars weren’t worth a grip then like they are now. I would have loved to ride in Vic’s other cars, but it was really cool to experience the Cobra when I was a kid.

Those did get 20MPG in the city but I don't think the reliability was there, or people just didn't buy too many of them. I saw a few of those in my day.... But they were never super popular. Getting 20MPG in the city back then especially in a BOF is really good though. I'd still stay away.
