You found the one that hasn't rolled over yet! I knew there had to be one still out there.

Seriously though, that thing was a POS even when it was new. During its production run, one out of every 500 owners was killed in a rollover accident, which I believe is the highest of any vehicle ever made by any major manufacturer. Ford paid out $2.4B in damage settlements, in 1990s dollars (roughly $5B in today's money).

......in your view, would that list include Suzuki (which, of course, is now gone from the American market)? The former Suzuki Samurai (I don't know if you remember it or not), due to its extremely short length/width/wheelbase, tall, narrow stance, and center of gravity, was notorious for rollovers.....particularly when driven by young, inexperienced, or aggressive drivers. So were some versions of older Jeep CJ-models and (as you noted) earlier Ford Broncos....but not quite as much as the Samurai.

Yes. The 2wd Bronco II was involved in 3.5x as many fatal rollovers per unit sold (3.78 per 10k) as the Samurai (1.11 per 10k). The 4wd was 57% higher than the Samurai (1.74 per 10k). Overall it was roughly double.

88% of all fatalities in the Bronco II were due to rollover. I believe that is also an all-time record.

CR also gave the Bronco II it's "Avoid" rating the year after it had done so for the Samurai, because it was tippy in the regular emergency maneuvers test that they do on every vehicle. They did not test the Bronco II using the "special" much more challenging procedure that they developed exclusively for the Samurai in order to force it to fail, after it passed the regular test (that the Bronco II failed) with flying colors.

I just thought it had some cool styling back then. Seeing one today was fun to see as retro is back in style now, brought back some fun 80s memories

So does the latest-generation Bronco, which comes in both two and four doors. Personally, I think the two-door version has a lot more personality, and more accurately brings back the retro-spirit of the original Broncos, but the shorter wheelbase on the two-door also means less stability and a rougher ride.

Right, the GS400 was the fastest production sedan until the E55 came out shortly after.

That E55 has silver leather like my SL.
There is just something about a Mercedes that isn't there in a Lexus, You don't really see that until you live with one for a while.

Yes. It's not a knock against Lexus at all. But the MB has soul. And so many special little quirks.

Don't get me wrong though, I've switched to the LS430 and been driving it a while..... fabulous car. So satisfying and luxurious, comfortable. Fantastic V8. If you can live without tech an LS430 is a hard interior/drive to beat.

Also, re: that Bronco 2.... I saw this old Suburban today.

Domestics can last just as long as Toyotas.

They all have or don't. It's the owner not the brand. You'll feel that until it gets replaced. As for E55... I remember having it as my desktop background for awhile. I planned on getting it when I could but when I could, I got something else... the 4GS.

Lexus was a pretty boring brand for the first 25 years. Their big criticism was boring styling, appliance like driving experience. Really took a hit when sales tanked in 2011 or 2012. But the spindle rescued
