i'm 'cursed' in that regard too lol... my first car was the LS, passed down from the grandparents who owned it from new so it was a fairly well kept example too... now even normally 'good' cars are effectively ruined for me! 80% of peak torque not available from 1500 rpm? pass!! i would however take 0 torque until 4500 rpm and then all of a sudden massive torque lol
Engines can still be hella torquey without turbos. My truck doles out 90% of max torque at 2200 RPM.
I remember reading an LX570 article, it was a legit road test. It mentioned how the 5.7 doesn't need to rev as much as an Escalade with the 6.2 just as an example.
I laughed at that and this was before I even had experienced one like the one in the Denali. But they're right. If you take both and just grandma drive them and stay with traffic the Toyota V8 doesn't rev as much.
But any 6.2L GM will absolutely annihilate an LX570... not even close.

They are torquey but not as torquey.

Right, but you don't have to wait even a split second for any turbos to spool. But yes a modern turbo has more torque.
NA power is so predictable, even to those not paying attention.
I prefer to put my truck in 2nd gear start even when I pull the boat out of the water.

In my Lexuses the lazy electronic throttle created more acceleration lag than the turbos anyways.

Just a general vent about living with a neighbor who is developing his property.
I washed my truck yesterday. Here it is today:

also your LS had a sluggish throttle? that's disappointing considering the throttle response in my LS is like off the charts, actually like the best calibrated system i've used

I’ve never experienced sluggish throttle response in any of my Lexus’es. 2RX, 3GS. Perfect throttle response.

Having owned both an LS400 and a 540i, I can guarantee you the 540i responds so much better off the line even with a smaller engine and a turbo. It makes 332 lb ft(factory rating, BMW underrates, probably more like 340 at the wheels and around 370 at the crank) from 1380 to 5200 RPM.

Nope.....not quite what I said. I said that most (not all) of the 45-series tires I've owned or test-driven, regardless of the actual sidewall height, have not, by my standards, measured up to my own level (opinion) of driving comfort. Some exceptions are from Hyundai/Genesis, older BMWs....and possibly a few Mercedes products.
I think part of this discussion centers around the fact that some of us may have varying ideas of what is considered comfortable and what isn't. That is going to vary from person to person. Your idea of ride "comfort" may not be the same as mine....or of other CL members.

Can't speak to those since I didn't have them, my 4GS had good throttle response, same engine as your 3GS. My 5ES was also good, my 4ES and my 2LS were the worst.

yes it "does" but there's absolutely a very noticeable amount of turbo lag until about 2000 rpm, i'm only speaking about the M256 I6 though i'm sure it's better in the V8
