General Car Conversation 2024 - part 2

I think that’s the best way to describe the ventilated seats in 2010 era Lexuses.

Remember, the F-150 broke it's driveshaft. For people like you who are experienced mechanics it's an easy fix, but for most, it's a trip to the shop. Also, the CT is way heavier, and fell at a steeper angle on its frame.
That said, F-150 is the better choice for a work truck, and much easier to repair, body and frame wise that is

It's 10 min and $700 for a new shaft at any shop, parts are same day. The CT outright failed and is dangerous, doesn't matter at all that it is heavier and you should really watch the dedicated F150 video where they hit its frame so hard and drop it the entire hight of the truck repeatedly without breakage.

Trucks should never be dropped, regardless if it's an F-150 or a Cyber Truck. That's just not real world. In real world tests, the Cyber Truck does pretty well. But as I've said in past posts, if I was looking for a work truck, it wouldn't be a $100k plus Cyber Truck, that's for sure
The CT has less of a frame cross section back there for 11k rating towing than my CAR does (5200 rated) both being aluminum. Plus it's higher off the ground amplifying shock from tongue weight changes due to the trailer jumping around. They need to fix it or de-rate the towing number, doesn't matter if it's a work truck or not it needs to reflect what it can actually tow without the trailers detaching like has already been seen in the wild.

Got it so you have never towed and experienced trailer shock lol! A 8500+ lb load hitting a road imperfection will SLAM the hitch just like a drop, that's what has people concerned here and for good reason.

Ha I wish that were the case but others on Bimmerpost say the same although some people seem to accept it but I don’t like it. It seems to be worse with the 50i vs the 40i but it’s all how the throttle response is tuned. None of my other V8 SUVs were ever tuned like that.

that is funny
5k oil changes, I would be operating an oil change shop out of my home. I’ve been doing 10k oil changes using mobil 1 oil and OEM filter for years. This is first time I’ve seen them at Walmart. Typically I order a pack of 5 from Amazon. Never checked to see where they are made🫣. I just changed oil in the Prius, track car and truck last month. I do rotate tires every 5k.
I know 5k oil change for piece of mind but we can’t outsmart the engineers

Guess how many times I've changed my fluids in my Model Y in 14 months and 22k miles? Guess how many times I've changed my fluids in my Polestar in 3 years and 36k miles? My Ioniq 5 in 13 months and 12k miles? You only get one guess 😂
