A HUGE change from my previous attitude on the matter!
Here's the only way to explain it. Since 2006 I've pretty much been driving V6's, from the Camry SE, Sienna, etc. In 2018 I was looking to get into an Accord Sport V6, but they stopped making them, so I bought a 10th Gen Civic Si. I tuned it, I modded it, but I just didn't enjoy it. Ended up selling it a year later and bought an IS350 where I was back in my "comfort zone".

I'm not anti four cylinder, but I've become accustomed to instant torque and power on demand. Anything less frustrates me

I've never owned a 4 cylinder and hope that I never do.

Oh, Honda made sweet 4 cylinder engines.

Just, the higher the count the better it gets with refinement and efficacy.

Big torque is hard to walk away from.

The big recall.

It does stain the new GX, makes the old one even more desirable.

Absolutely true, the more displacement, the more refined. But it also makes the vehicle more expensive. I remember on the CivicX forum people asking why Honda didn't just put the same 2.0L that was in the Accord Sport and Type R in the Si, just a detuned version. A Honda engineer explained why in an article... they wouldn't be able to sell it for $25k and it would be unaffordable to a lot of it's buyers.... young people

My mother has a pristine 2001 SLK230 in the garage that’s most likely dead. It hasn’t been started in 5-7 years. Otherwise it’s in great shape. The 4 cylinder engine is awful, sounds awful, and feels awful though. I always tried to get them to go for the 320 with the 6 cylinder.

I never really cared for it too much, it’s so small and not really a real MB though there are some impressive things from what I can remember. I keep meaning to get it towed to the shop to see if we killed it by letting it sit all these years.

BTW my Sienna was in for service a couple of weeks back, and my mechanic told me a few 11th Gen Accords have been coming in to his shop with blown head gaskets, some with as little as 15k on them. Probably from tuning. The 3.5L was bulletproof.
If you like Type R then you would like the 2.0 Accord. Same engine but with smaller turbo but with a 10 speed. Throw a Type R turbo on the Accord 2.0 and it will scoot.

My friend has 3 Evos (including 450hp Evo 8) and two AP1 S2k’s that he tracks. Him and my other friend who also has an AP1 S2k are trying to talk me into joining the team but I’m leaning towards a B58😏

Not quite actually, for a lawsuit to happen there has to be harm to a party....so if they kept everything internal and no harm came of it then it's technically legal and I'm sure they are still doing the same behaviors internally. Plus as you can see where you live cops can just pull a warrant and tow your car off for "evidence" if it was near a crime to pull whatever info they can off it. That's comical that you can be inconvenienced that badly just for being somewhere

Many thoughts on here about 4 cylinders is exactly how I feel about anything less than an 8, just nah. V6s are so painfully mid and intolerable, only I-6s get a pass with me lol!

The type R is just comical, so overpriced for what you get vs if you bought a real car in that price range but I guess it IS the ultimate boy racer/hot econo box so it gets halo status and the perks therein.

There are good and lackluster 4 cylinders, particularly if we're talking about performance. The Camry's I4 is efficient and dead nuts reliable, but about as boring as they come. Honda's 2.0T is an absolute beast, way quicker than the V6 it replaced, and super fun to drive. It's also quite reliable if you don't try to get 600hp out of a stock bottom end.

I don't think the GX was included in the recall.

I drove the 10th Gen Accord Sport with the 2.0L (been there, done that 🤣 ), and you are correct, it's extremely smooth and is actually faster than the V6 it replaced. I almost bought one, but I was looking for a 6 speed manual at the time and there were none in my area for the Accord Sport. Ended up buying an Si for it's 6 speed manual, and regret it. BTW, never tell someone with a Type R the Accord has the same engine. I got chewed out in the forum by a few Type R owners.

That said, the 3.5L in the Accord was still a better feeling engine, IMO

I've driven the Accord Sport with the 2.0T and it's a very good engine, I'm not knocking it, and you are correct, it's faster than the V6 it replaced, but IMO the 3.5L V6 still felt way better IMO.

I don't believe all four cylinders are bad, they have their place, what I hate is the downsizing going on in the industry, which I've been seeing since 2014 and accelerate after 2018
