$110 to go 300 miles in that Escalade V is a big ouch to me! I’m paying $99 to go almost 700 miles.

My two largest holdings are underwater right now, and all it takes is another 2008 type real estate crash and I'm done My saving grace is I have a 2.77 percent fixed, that is something that will never happen probably in our lifetimes. But I'm positive everything will work out in the end

EDIT

Oh yeah, I have a brother in law worth quite a bit, I could go begging to him if everything falls apart 🤣

Yep, I don't care how much money I have in the bank, what my investments are worth, there is no way on this earth I would want to pay that much money to fuel a car 300 miles 🤣

And that’s on the highway! Lucky to get 260 miles of range around town.

That’s just crazy. It’s an amazing vehicle but the fuel cost and economy to me negates the whole “all in one” concept of the vehicle. I’d rather have something super fast and cool and then also a daily car that is also awesome.

It’s another reason why I wouldn’t choose a regular Escalade over a luxury sedan. For me to drive around in a huge Escalade just by myself and burn fuel at 14 MPG is such a huge waste.

I remember the days my father would fill up his 12 MPG Buick Lesabre for $10. OK then I wouldn't mind driving a fuel hog. But those days are long, long gone

You know you are right, I actually got reality checked on this since my post by a customer pleading with me to get them in so they can stop driving their spare car since it's "crazy on gas"......it gets more than my work Jeep by 2x and it's making them panic with extra cost.

Those days are over. They have been trying to get us used to $5 a gallon for a couple of years now. People figure out ways to save by using apps, and some smaller gas stations have popped up with cheaper gas than the big retailers. My brother who has a handicapped son has a special wheelchair vehicle that's a gas guzzler, he downloaded the Chevron app which gave him a few fillup's with $1 off per gallon. And of course there is the explosion of EV's and hybrids

My experiment is a diesel car, there are two stations near me and one right by my shop that I can get diesel for cheaper than 87 and with rewards etc I'm looking at $1.95-2.20 a gallon and a 14 gal tank is 700+ miles range.

I'm hoping the fact it's a manual and makes heavy turbo noises etc keep me entertained enough to keep it long enough to pay for the car. Currently I've been using anything but the Jeep as 12.2 is wearing on my sanity after a decade driving it, it's way worse now because of my other cars. At one point I only had said Jeep but now my friends are questioning if I hate myself since I keep driving it

I've been in a couple of Mercedes diesels and a RAM Diesel and from the inside they are quiet. In Europe they are pretty popular, but I don't think they would do well in California. They started to pop up here in the 80's, but then almost disappeared, now you only see them in the big RAM trucks.

Jeeps are popular here, but they seem to make a lot of noise when they are on the highway. Is your jeep punishing on the road? I've only been in a jeep off road, and it was punishing

My truck gets about 17-20 on the highway depending on how I'm driving. With a 36 gallon tank that's about a range of 6-700.

Around town it's a lot worse lol. 12-13 mpg with my heavy lead foot.

I'm nowhere near a millionaire but I am single with no kids so it's not a big issue. Both vehicles are paid for, my mortgage is $950/month. $1160 when you include the escrow for taxes and insurance.

I definitely spend more on car insurance than gas.

For me to run around town for a day doing regular routines with a heavy foot costs $30 a day in the Yukon lol and that’s just the NAV8. It’s impossible not to drive fast and gun it, can’t imagine that Escalade V. It feels so light on its feet (contrary to what some have said) it’s hard to stay out of the gas.

So $30 a day is $210 a month- that’s awful too. But I don’t give a rat’s ***.
